i know DORA stand for Dealer Order Reciept Acknowledgement but what is the purpose of it...is it just to make sure that the dealer sent the oder off right? or does it hold any information that is vital? please answer quickly. My dealer had no clue what a DORA was so i had to try and explain what it was. Why is it nessicary(<--- spelling) to have?

It confirms that the vehicle was ordered, what priority it has and most importantly what equipment it was ordered with. Your dealer will receive it the morning after your vehicle was ordered.

thank you very much! :worship: i'm glad i at least half knew what it was. i told him it showed what i ordered on my car so that i was insured it was ordered correctly.
So since i ordered a week ago, he should already have this information. Shouldn't he have called to let me know or something?

Not necessarily. I ordered on 09/15 and got my DORA on 11/01. I know it was ordered on 09/15 though, because he and I looked it up in the ordering program at his office. When he recieved my DORA on Monday, it showed the order date as 09/15.

Karpro:
Is the DORA printed the next day even if the dealer had no allocations. When I asked my dealer for the DORA he said that he submitted the order, but since he did not have any more allocations, FORD would not accept the order from the bank, therefore, no DORA was created.
I have since left that dealer (since he originally did not tell me he had no more allocations until mid-Nov.)

The DORA is just a receipt that the order was submitted. Allocation has no bearing on receiving it. I sold three orders this week, all super duties, and the DORA came the following morning. Ford "accepts" all orders, when or if they get pulled and built is where allocation comes in.
As far as the salesperson not being familiar with the DORA, or the ordering process in general, is not unreasonable. Most salespeople only want to sell whats currently in inventory today so they can get paid today. Usually only a manager handles orders, and most of it is for stock inventory orders. My particular store is the exception to the rule, we do about 40% of our business on an order basis so I am very familiar with the process.
I would prefer to do business with someone that is familiar with the process and can give you accurate answers, but to each their own.
