Donna: In the other thread that got locked, you wrote:

"Geez People.....BUT I disabled...also the one that locks you in the car when you close the door!"

Were you talking about the Autolock feature (on automatic transmission cars) on page 63 of the owner's manual?

Or something else? What you referred to sounded like the doors locked as soon as you were in the car and shut the door, not after you started rolling.

Please clarify. Thanks so much. Appreciate it.

pg 63 is correct. The doors locked as soon you turned on the ignition.

Not sure what the point is in disabling it, the door will unlock when you pull the handle, I could understand if you had to unlock then open the door. But mine is a manual, mine don't automatically lock anyway.

My GT doesnt have this feature either, buy hubbys truck does. And it is EXTREMELY annoying, because the passanger doors stay locked. When hubby is alone, its no biggie, because yeh, he can get out no problem. But, when we are all in the car, its a whole other story.

Hmmm, what April reports is in line with page 63, doors lock after you start rolling, not when you turn on the ignition as Donna reports.

I don't have my car yet, so I'm trying to learn as much as I can so I can hit the streets and not look back; or at least know that something is in the book.

But Donna's experience with the door locks is strange. Although I like the feature that locks the doors when you start rolling (had it on the last 2 Jeep GCs), I could see how that could be a nuisance to have the doors lock before you even put it in gear.

Sounds like something was out of whack, but Donna eliminated the problem by turning the feature completely off.

Thanks Donna for the quick response.

Only for automatic trannys, not the manual ones like JR...

O.K. You are all right. I disabled them right after I got the car in October, so I did not remember correctly. The car did have to be moving according to pg 63. Sorry for the bad info.

It was annoying to me to have to get something out of the passenger side of the car and it was always locked.

If the Doors are already locked though and someone gets in I believe they lock back as soon as you close the door. That's what all of my other Ford's with Auto Lock have done in the past.

Even my 5 Speed T-Bird Turbo Coupes had Auto Lock, Put it in 1st Gear and the Doors Locked. I am Sad to Hear Manual 05's Do not have this feature, I really liked it. It was never a pain to me. Now, my Friends that can't wait to pull the handle before I got it Unlocked, That's Annoying.
