Destroyed my tire :(
My rear driver side tire was shredded today by running over a ½ inch iron rod and driving a mile while flat. No TPMS and bad hangover = stupid crap like this.
My question is: should I buy just 1 new tire or 2 new rear tires? Or do I need to get 4 new ones? My current tires have 8,000 miles on them and were cross rotated at 6,000 miles. My tires are the stock Perilli p-zero’s. I don’t burnout much and they look to have healthy treads. One final consideration is that my daily commute consists of 15 mins at 100 MPH on the highway.
Cheers,
Mike

I wish. But I'm strapped for cash now. Which is why I was trying to get away with changing just 1. Would that cause handling issues?

I'm buying the exact same P235/55ZR17 98W tire. So I'll end up with a brand new RL tire and an 8000 mile old RR tire. Would it not be better to have two older tires at the back?

It won't matter if it's on the front or back because the overall diameter of the new tire won't be that much different from the old tire. If you had 20k miles on the old tires then you would want to keep old tires in the back.

You are only talking probably 2-4/32 of an inch difference in diameter of the tire. Not enough to matter for T/C or the limited slip diff. Just get one tire and save some $$, put it on the rear. It will be fine.

How do you cross rotate directional tires? They should go front to back, back to front. That is unless you tike the tires off and have them reinstalled.
