I had some time on my hands so i went to the dealer last week to drive any 05 they might have on the lot and of course nada. So the "new guy", i guess cause he kept looking for approval from the other guy after every question i asked, got my number and said he'd tell me when some more 05s will come in. Now mind you, I specifically told him what I wanted. I told him I was going to have to order for sure b/c of certain options i want and it would have to be an 06 due to the 18" rims and such. And even, I mentioned there won't be a chance for me to order an 05 any way. He still kept insisting in putting me in a plain as heck gt with a slush box. Any way i went home and today he calls me and tells he has a V6 for crying out loud, that just came in! God how desperate!

A salesman is in the job of "selling". If he doesn't have it the next best thing will do. If he doesn't try or offer to sell you "something" it looks as though he's not trying. I don't agree with his tactics but you can't blame him for trying. He may be trying to get you to reply to his "offers" just to keep the game going also. It looks good to his boss because at least he is trying and in contact with you. You asked for it to a point by giving them your phone #. Always tell them that you'll call them unless you like being pestered.

I dont see how Ford hires most of there sales people. 8-10 are complete idiots. No offense to the sharp sales people out there-you know who you are. Im a District Manager and have hired sales people before and let me say that you must be born with the talent. You cant sell someone if you dont know your product and dont listen to the buyer. Most importantly 1st impression is everything. I remember looking for my Stang and going to 2-3 dealers and these idiots would come up to me. I know they are trying to make a living like all of us are but dont be a pest. I would get so aggrevated with some of the BS, I would just walk off the lot and go to another one. Ican say that 2 dealers lost the chance of doing business with me because of their sales people. I finally went to a dealer with a decent guy and put in my order. After he had my order he made it clear in his tone of voice that he was aggrevated when I called (I called 3 times within the a 2 month waiting period). When I did call to ask a question or get an update he never called back. I would have to call back to get an answer to my question. This is what I have noticed at every dealership I have gone to. Now Mercedes, BMW, etc. have some sharp looking sales people. How do they do that. Higher commisions maybe?

One thing I have learned is in the future not to settle and give my money just to any sales person. In the future I will hand pick the sales person for my next car. I will interview them and tell them what my expectations are. They will also have to provide me with an answer to why I should pick them as my sales person. Just as they were coming to work for me. In a way they are. The way I look at it part of my money is built into the price of the car for the commision of the sales people.

I dont mean to be harsh but buying a car is not the same is buying a couch. Its the 2nd biggest purchase following a house so I want to be dealing with someone sharp and someone that takes car of me. I dont want to have to call the ERL. I want my sales person to call her and then call me with an update.

I am in the security guard business and I constantly take care of my clients on a daily basis. I also provide all the details to my prospects and follow-up with them in a timely manner (without being a pest) until I get their business. When I do get their business they dont have to call me when they need something because I stay involved.

I might be asking to much but I am just tired of the games.
