i guess i am confused about how the order process works. I look at some of your guy's sigs and see that some who ordered in feb. already have their cars, while others that ordered in Dec. are still waiting?

is Ford really that screwed up

it is really disappointing for me because from this thread it is looking like I won't get my GT (I ordered Mar. 5). I call my dealer and they can't tell me squat. I finally found that 800 number and was all excited...well I'm clean and unscheduled.

It just stinks because the 05 is the only new car out there that I like and can afford. I have drove "junkers" and "fixer-upers" all my life and was looking forward to a brand new car. If my order is not produced I don't think I can justify getting an 06. I don't mind waiting (although it would be nice to have for the summer) but I kinda feel like if ford can't make my car when i placed the order in march, then they don't deserve my money + more waiting for an 06. The whole reason i did not by a Mach 1 last year, is because I loved the 05.

sorry, i'm rambling and ranting but it pisses me off that my car might not get built. I'm tired of trying to tell friends and family why it is going to take so long and now I'm also having to look for a new place to live. Do I get an apartment with a garage or not? If I am not getting a 05 then I don't need an garage. I am supposed to be out of my current place by the end of the month, sure would be nice to know Ford

 

Thanks for saying all the things I have not been able too say. Everytime I start talking about my order, I get so angry I cant figure out what to write. I feel the same way, especially about not buying an 06. Why should I give FORD my money if they hav'nt done anything for me since Jan! I ordered a Sonic Blue GT, and now there is no Sonic Blue in 06! This bites!!!!!

I agree, wonder how many others are going to get screwed out of their 05 Sonic Blue Mustang order and have to settle for a 06 with a different color? Right now, I kinda feel I shouldn’t have to settle, specially paying close to 30k for new GT I should get what I want. It has nothing to do with waiting; I can wait if it means getting what I want.
You know, I blame both Ford and the Dealerships. Dealers like to string you along when they don’t have a clue, and ford for taking orders they know they can’t fill – PLUS changing color options. They should fill all the orders for 05 that have colors that will not be offered in 06. I know this stinks for the ones that have been waiting longer.

From what I have been told over time and from other forums, there have been production problems with the rear axle (supplier problem) it is different for GT vs V6. Also the MyColor option was up in the air (some kind of litigation) so if that option was ordered then your order was way layed until finalized, that is why MyColor is only going to be available in the '05. I'm sorry to say this but I have had mine since Nov 19 '04, but ordered it as soon as I could last Aug and still took 3 months and was the first GT in Utah. Out here in Utah there are few if any '05s a few verts but little else at dealers. To give you an idea there are only about 18 GTs in the whole state. P.S. I have heard that if you want to travel you may be able to get a GT at Earnhardt's in Arizona. I heard they ordered a huge allocation and of course they are a FORD favorite with NASCAR etc. Check it out.

And as for Utah only having 18 GT's in the whole state, I am pretty sure you're wrong about that as well. Ford is making about 192k '05 Mustangs--roughly 30% of those will be GT's, so that is approximately 57,600 GT's (including verts). Seems very unlikely that only 18 will find their way into Utah. I'd almost be willing to make you a bet that there are at least 18 GT's sitting on dealer lots in UT right now (could be found using forddirect.com given some time to search).

 

I know there are no GT coupes on show room floors out here if there is they are order returns almost every dealership has waiting lists for anything that comes in as far as GTs are concerned. THere are a few V6s in coupes and verts, in fact I know an owner that went to Las Vegas to buy one after wiring them the money to hold it then drove 7 hours to get it. I have and a couple of others have been tracking the dealerships though forddirect.com the sight shows what has been shipped but by the time you call them they are gone. I take mine to car shows at dealerships and the salesmen come out to look at it because it is a rare comodity here. You are welcome to come out and see for yourself. In the mean time I will stand by what I know. As far as the MYColor I asked a dealership today and they said My Color would not be available as far as they know for next year according to some corresponance they received. But they also said they don't even know what they can order for the 2006MY as yet.

 

I agree. The one thing Ford CAN do for those who've ordered GTs as '05s that won't get built is to offer them price-protected '06s painted in the '05 color they ordered.

Ford says they will build cars in special colors if you order them in quantities of 8 or more. Ford should just group all the "bumped" Sonic Blue/Mineral Grey '05 orders together (certainly more than 8 of each color) and do a special run of '06s for those who've patiently waited, IMHO.

Then Ford needs to rethink its allocation process. It sounds like it works okay for stock orders, but sure doesn't work well for customer special orders. A special order customer should not be penalized if the only Ford dealer in a reasonable distance has a lousy allocation.

I ended up purchasing my second-choice color out of stock from a dealer 60 miles away as a local dealer I had special ordered in January from wasn't sure my car would get built as an '05 and I didn't want to wait until Fall for my new car.
