A depressing e-mail from my rep.

Man I hope I can get mine, or else we're going to be forced to buy something else. It's even worse that black may not be an option for '06.

This probably goes against the "facts of life" BUT it sure would be nice for those individuals that have had their orders in since a specific point in time to get first dibs on the 06's at least. I realize we are back to the dealer allocation issue, etc. Wishful thinking on my part I suppose.
Since the demand is there, why doesn't Ford just build the GTs that are ordered, and bump some V6s that are not ordered. That would leave less on the lots as left overs, right? Plus it would put a few more bucks in Fords pocket.
Or is it a matter of available parts?

wondering if anyone can give me some advice here, I have a 05 convertible being pulled for production this Friday and I'm told 3-4 weeks after that is when I'll get my car. Mineral Gray with the stock painted gray wheels, the o/e type. Does anyone know if the gray shade of these wheels is the same shade as mineral gray? In the accessories catalog there are 17 inch painted argent aluminum wheels with spinner caps that are a darker shade of gray than the stock painted wheels. Does this darker shade match the color of the car better?
Not to be vindictive or anything but if I don't get this car I will never buy from Ford again. I don't care about their order process, I only care how I'm being treated as a customer. Basically I feel like I'm in line for a really cool ride and people keep stepping in front of me even though I was there before them. Yeah, yeah it's all about profitability but last time I checked Ford was still stinking in that area. Maybe they should rethink their formula for success. For a company who's still on the rocks they really botched an opportunity to shine.

Wow, Ford is going to dissapoint thousands of really hardcore fans, wonder how many will reorder for '06?
I don't know if I would, if I wasn't able to get my order. I guess I will try to wait for the best for now.
So is there a confirmed date (April, 22?) of when every dealership is guaranteed to know whether their C/U orders will be or won't?

It has a lot to do with , and also probably with CAFE ratings.

Average
Fuel
Economy
Basically the average fuel economy rating for a company's cars. Trucks are excluded if I am not mistaken.
Well I called my dealer's sales manager today while in the car on my way to check out a fully loaded Refire GT Coupeat another dealer.. I wanted to get answers on their allocation and if he thought I would get pulled for this model year. If he said chances are 'no' then I was going to just buy the coupe even though I ordered a convertible. As always I don't know which part of what he said was fact and which parts were BS. I'll put what I think is possible BS in bold. He said that they have allocation for my order and have more allocation than 99% of the dealers around here. He also said that the system wouldn't have accepted my order if they didn't have allocation for it. That's BS but maybe he meant that they wouldn't have accepted my order if they knew they couldn't fill it. He said there just waiting for their allocated orders to be pulled for production. I hope he's telling the truth because I'd hate to pass up other opportunities if they aren't going to come through.
Another note- One of the bigger dealers I called today actually was ready to take another order from me. They told me their turnaround was like 1 1/2 months. As I was walking out the door to go their the sales manager calls me and said they just received a fax that they can't accept anymore 2005 GT orders. Just another confirmation of this thread.

amen centurion----------i am in the same boat, no build date by May 1 and I will be ordering a new ACURA TL with the A-Spec package----------------i ordered on 1/14/2005 with basically no communication from my dealer but a faxed copy of a letter from the regional rep stating how some 05's may not be built----i am extremely pi$$ed and too agree that FORD screwed the pooch by building too many V6's and sharing a new model year launch with another vehicle---i will not even get into the problems with parts, shipping and allocation-this is the year 2005! now i know why the japanese, chinese, koreans are kicking our *****-----unacceptable!
If you guys were to read up and understand how manufacturing works you may not be as pissed. Some of these parts are most likely made in the countries you mentioned and could even be some of the delay reasons. They arent kicking our hineyes they are putting out low quality garbage and are often late on delivery shutting down lines entirely. It isnt even a level playing feild. China doesnt have workers rights. They dont care about their workers cause when one falls there are hundreds in line to take their place at pennies a day. If you can do so much better whip out your magic wand and make the darn car yourself.
