I'm finally getting my stang! It should be at the dealer on March 12th. Being the first "NEW" car I've ever bought. What should I look at when I get there?

Paint? Tires? Engines? Windshield? What kind of checks should I do on the car before I drive it off the lot?

If anybody else has any hints or suggestions before taking a new car of the lot please let me know.

Appreciate the advice and input...as always!!

Ty

Check anything you want. I would check for paint defects.

Anything that doesn't look like it should be there.

"Anything that doesn't look like it should be there."

And anything there that doesn't look like it should be?

Don't take delivery at night or if it is raining.

Check mileage, (under 25 ?)

Look for body/glass damage/repair from transport to dealer,
especially if delivery was delayed unexpectedly.

Or any other damage to the car that they could blame on you after
you have driven it.

Warranty items I wouldn't worry about so much.

Congrats! and post pix!

I'd look for door dings, misaligned body panels including the truck lid, scratches on the paint. I'd also listen to the drivetrain and see if the rear end is silent on decelleration with no gas applied around 40 mph. Try not to get caught up in the experience and spend some time looking the car over carefully. Congratulations on your first new car!

I'm picking mine up today. I did notice that the sticker on the radio when the car was delivered ended in 'A'. Should I say something about the radio problems at delivery or should I wait until I actually have the issue. Same question about the gas tank TSB...

Here's a REALLY detailed checklist that someone put together to inspect a new Ford SuperDuty truck. Most of it applies to any vehicle.

http://www.thedieselstop.com/faq/199...eneral-NVC.htm

It would be useful to a lot of folks if someone who knew about most of the '05 Mustang issues could put a list like this together for our cars.

I'd wait until you have the problem. I have an A unit and it works fine. It will occasionally skip, but when it does, powering the unit down for a second resolves it. It has only skipped on standard CD's as well. It's never happened on MP3 CD's for me.

Maybe I'm just lucky

Bill,

I've been waiting a long time...ordered Dec 21st. The built date was actually for the first week in March, but it was built last week for some reason. I don't know the exact date. I just played the waiting game..wasn't to concerned with dates as I really didn't want the car until April....only plan on driving it April through to end of September..Summer FUN!

Post it when you get your stang...see who gets it first! CAN"T WAIT!! WOOHOO!

If you ordered the IUP, check the My Color function and make sure it works. My '03 LS came without a jack (as I learned only after I had a flat tire) so check to make sure the jack and everything else is there.
If you ordered locking lugs, make sure the small plastic bag with the 'key' and the regular lugs taken off are in the car. Make sure the radio is set to display station identification information (when setting items like level of bass, don't push anything and the radio will display status of this function. If you push the buttons, it will skip this and go to treb setting options. Make sure the trim in the trunk in properly positioned and held in place properly. Make sure the windshield washer reservior is full (mine was not). My GT was delivered to me wet - it had been outside in the rain...but the rain was over, so I 'asked' them to dry if off. Don't sign any paper work about condition of the car at delivery until you check it out.
