I agree. I ordered mine in August of 06 with the specific options I wanted. I had to wait 3 months, but it was totally worth it. Don't accept anything less than what you want. PERIOD.

If they changed the rims and the Tire Pressure Monitor Failier is reading means they are probably 06 wheels. If they came off an 07 then the straps should have been on them and they could have reset the computer to them. IMO the other dealer sold the car your wheels got put on. I don't think the wheels are in the VIN. I would ask for the TPS straps/monitors to be installed on the wheels on the car if you can be happy with them.

RobK, they would be the selling dealer. The know better, they were taken and now they are trying to take the buyer as well.

I'm pretty sure the selling dealer wouldn't even have noticed if the buyer didn't point it out. If the deal doesn't go down they'll simply return it to the originating dealer and likely scratch them off their DX list. There really isn't anything they can do at this point anyway except at best go in pocket and try to reimburse for the problem, but again it wasn't their doing to begin with. That would be a BIG good faith gesture. They'd likely prefer to return it and order a car.

Get this in writing:
"ASAP the car will be fitted with 64W option wheels and Tire Pressure Monitors."
That way you can take the car and wait for them to honor this later.
The only way we would switch rims was when the HIGHER option wheels were left on the car we got left with (that way we could tell the customer it was a dealer upgrade). They did the opposite and dumped it on another dealer.

Yup that sucks, they bought a car with the wrong wheels. I know we would send it back on their tab and find something else. I wouldn't have our dealer come out of pocket for a set of wheels for a someone else's mistake. You don't even get the holdback on a DX, its a waste of money to 'fix' it consdering they probably are already making next to nothing on it.

Conclusion...

CONCLUSION!

I bought the car and am very happy. I am glad to be a new stang owner and member of the stang community!

The car still has the 18 premium wheels on it. I feel good about buying this car from my dealership. The wheels look pretty **** good even though I like the Bullitts better. They were very upfront with me and if I didn't want it, it was getting sent back to Tennessee. Because there was no other car like mine in the area, I decided to purchase because I didn't want to compromise on interior/exterior color, tranny, or gears.

I planned to change rims in the future anyway, this is my thinking. Did I get exactly what I wanted? NO Am I happy? YES I like things to be perfect in life but i am trying to realize that sometimes they are not and you have to compromise.

My dealership gave me 6 free oil changes and any tire rotations as necessary all cost included!

Also, they are actively searching for the bullitt wheels and plan to purchase a set and replace the premiums. I got a reciept for this. I know that they may not find any at a good price and I may never get them but it is better than nothing and I believe that they will try.

Hi all, I'm glad to be here!

P.S. First planned mod - C&L Racer CAI with 93 Performance tune from Doug at BAMAchips, good choice???

Do you still have the "TIRE PRESSURE MONITOR FAILURE" warning? Are they at least going to install the tire pressure sensors?

Yes the C&L Racer and Bama tunes would be a great first mod, congrats!

No, they took it to the shop for about 30 minutes. I'm not sure if the sensors are set. How would I know?

If the warning doesn't come on you are all set.
There is nothing wrong with the other wheels. I hope you will be happy.
I would suggest prodding them frequently if you want the 64W wheels or they will forget to "look".

Oh, if you have the fanblade 18"s then no worry, they're the best wheels anyway They also fit brake mods a lot easier.
