I am at 3k miles with my new GT. I was wondering what an oil change, with synthetic oil, costs when done by a dealer.

I don't know, but my first oil change was a freebie from the dealer with the purchase of the car. They want you to get used to using their shop. I'll use it cause it's free, and then do it myself from then on.

Depends on your area, upper $20's I do mine myself, about $14 on sale. I see no sense to these quick oil changes. Too much dirty oil is left in the engine.

Most dealers are about $30. They usually check more stuff then a Jiffy Noob will.

I almost at my 3K mark my self and I added a tune and C&L intake. Should I take off the mods before taking it in for the free oil change?

Our everyday oil & filter change for up to 5 qts is $14.95, no appointment necessary. We also rotate tires for $9.95. It keeps the customers returning to the shop for other repairs/maintenance.

My dealer charges 9.95 for oil/filter,but I too am wondering about cost of synthetic oil change. Can I take Mobil 1 to them,at my cost, and have them do the work of changing it for the same 9.95? Now that Mobil 1 comes in the correct weight, I thought I might start using it.(I'm almost to 6,000 for third oil change-500 3,000 and now 6,000) Guess I'll give them a call today.
Dealer does not use full synthetic. Dealer will let me bring in 6 qts. of Mobil 1 and filter and they will change it for 9.95 as a normal oil/filter change. Asked if it would void warranty in any way and they said that's a Ford question. They put in the synthetic blend 5w20 because that's what Ford recommends. I'm guessing Mobil 1 will be OK with Ford. Don't think I've answered your question, sorry.

I usually pay about 30 bucks for the dealer oil change. I can't do it at home because of restrictions about doing any kind of work on your car here. It takes longer than an oil change shop but they will put the right amount and type of synthetic blend oil in, top off fluids and check other stuff.

I will never use a quick change place again, they shorted me a quart of oil, forgot to put caps back on, over filled some fluids, put lids on crooked, the list goes on.

I wouldn't worry about having a intake or tune when getting the oil changed. I had one on my Honda and they never said a word. Maybe if you have some engine damage that could be directly linked to either than I'd worry.

i do the changes myself so i can't really help there, but from everything I've read, you should really wait until about 10 000miles before switching to synthetic. http://www.mototuneusa.com/break_in_secrets.htm

Hey BadSnake98, I made a set of wood ramps just like yours. Saw it on one of the forums, I can remember where. They're better than you can buy, and are an easier pitch to drive up. The hokey plastic ones I bought just slid along the garage floor. The wood ones weigh more, but a sherman tank could drive up them. Also, six 2x10s thick made them 10" high.

I agree ... I left all my stuff on including my "tune" and all the service guy said was "cool!" and then we got into a great conversation of stuff he had done to his older mustangs. I was worried but pleasently surprised. I think that most of the "good" ones know that this car is built to be customized.

And you would rather believe the information that companies provide, when they are clearly biased towards wanting to get you to buy their product?? I'm not saying Mobil 1 is a bad product, I'm just saying that it's not like their going to put on their website "please wait until 10,000miles before switching".

I like to get my information from neutral sources wherever possible...but hey.

Go to Myford.com and register your vehicle. They will send you money saving coupons from your local Ford dealer as well as nationwide deals on everything from oil changes to windshield wipers. Have them stamp your service book when service is performed and they also will e mail you when service is recommended. Oil changes w/rotation and fluid check/refills are about $18-20 around my neck of the woods.

The dealer I bought my 05 at gives me lifetime oil changes for $19.95. Plus free Starbucks coffee and chocalate chip cookies while you wait! Only drawback is it could take a hour or so. But being retired I just take my coffee and look at their new cars.
