Lane,
I haven't had a Mustang in a while so I can't speak about the 97's set up but I did notice that the power adapter on my '05 stays "hot" with the car off. Could the one in your '97 go "cold" when the car is off? Just a thought which might help

perhaps it could be something with the shaker problem. I had a battery crap out in my F-350 this morning. My son cleaned my truck out in my shop last Friday and moved the truck when he was done. He is 14 so he gets all excited when he gets to move a vehicle...ahh those good ol days...anyway one of my guys went to take the truck to the store and the battery was dead. I slapped the battery buddy on it and she finally started. Funny thing is when I was letting it boost for a few I could hear the cd player trying to change a cd. I have had issues with this cd player in the past and told my son not to put in or take out any cd's. he didnt listen. So what i think happened is he loaded a cd, it didnt work right, and he moved the truck and shut it off not realizing the player was trying to sit the cd. I have the in dash 6 cd changer factory in the truck. Cant remember the brand. Anyway with all the shaker issues we have seen perhaps this is another one??

When I got home last night I jumped started my dead battery and let the car run a bit. When I got in to drive I noticed that the map lights were on - turned on with the interior light switch. Apparantly the last person to drive my car (that would be my 16 yo son) before we left on vacation had clicked the interior lights on. This doesnt account for the window being down and he swears it was up when he locked the car. Oh well - it started and the window went up. I do have to get a wet vac for the driver's side carpet - it's soaked from the torrential rain over the weekend. It's going in for service tomorrow - hopefully they'll dry out the carpets but I imagine they'll find no problem with the window operation. Just have to watch it I guess.
