Exclamation Crap! How do I remove ignition coils?

I am trying to remove the valve covers to have them painted. The first step is to remove the ignition coils. Does anyone know how to do this? It says to refer to section 303-07B of the Ford Service Manual.

Does anyone have any advice on removing the igniton coils?

be careful not to over-trque or cross thread when you're putting them back in... these aluminum heads strip out easily, and don't take well to helicoils.

and as tempting as it looks (like old school paste... only orange and sparkly) .... don't eat it.

FWIW...You do not need to remove the ignition coils to remove the covers. I didn't and a full swap took me just under one hour.
