Is the engine cover available as an aftermarket item? If so, where? Thanks.

I originally thought the cover would at least be available at a later date. I know a previous member has stated it will be on the GT's. Kevin (OEM Supplier) has stated he had no knowledge of it becoming available but that was probably 3-4 weeks ago - so something may have changed. I have to wonder if given Ford's overall financial situation, that the bean counter's don't think it is worth the start-up $.

If only Ford would send one to me, I can get them produced in as little as 6-8 months... Unsure on cost... would have to out source production overseas.

BTW... Thanks for clearing the cobb webs off of this one!

I was at the Chicago auto show yesterday and met with one of the Ford "suits" who holds the title of Mustang Product Specialist. As a regular lurker and occasional poster on these boards, I am well aware of the popularity of this topic. It was one of the first questions that I asked " Dave ". He was surprised by my question and was only able to offer that something will most likely be available by aftermarket suppliers. As most of you know, Steeda has shown a cover by most do not like the design. I have yet to find a cover to satisfy our needs. I guess we just need to keep this thread alive to demonstrate the interest.

The cover makes it much cleaner and stands out nicely. My friend's RX-8 has a cover and it really ads a nice touch to the engine. The least Ford could do is put it in the catalog as an option to those who wish to purchase it just like those chrome Bullitts.

The Mustang has always been my horse in the pony car war, but without the other ponies the bean counters have more power to give up things like the cover, but what are you going to do buy a AMX?. Its great Ford gave us a new Mustang, but let us have a little icing.

I can't see it and and the car is slower hauling it around so it is out for me. If I ever get my ride and its on there I'll sell it to one of you guys that want it. What is it worth?

HMMMMM. I like the boy racer hood. 3d carbon dosent offer it. I am making one.
HMMMMM. I love the look of the cover. Ford dosent offer it. I will make one.
Dosent look that hard to make. The hard part is to press the stang.
Otherwise , just a piece of polished aluminium.

Slower hauling it around? What do you think it's made out of....... LEAD? How many OUNCES can aluminum or plastic add to the weight?
We better not carry any extras in our cars, like a six pack - too heavy! The weight of extra CD's must really slow us down. We don't dare carry any bags with tools, small hyd. jack or wax and cleaners, etc. - way too heavy. You must drive with a half tank of gas so you don't have to haul the other half around ---would be way too heavy! Just make it available for those of us that want it, too heavy or not.

And don't guestimate a price, especially a high one. We want it as low priced as possible. I f you let them know you're willing to pay $100.00, do you think they'll only charge $40.00?

Um, I think Mongoose was just having some fun.

I like the cover. For me the 05 is retro but still very modern. That mess under the hood does not look retro and it lacks the cover that many other new cars have. So fix it Ford! Just give us the option, 90% here want the thing.

I vote for this one

[attachmentid=11968]

But the one in the pics would be nice until I can afford the shaker.

CME - I can't get on CDC's webbsite to check that out. Nice unit ! How much, and does anyone else offer shaker kits? Do you intend to cut original hood or replace it?

Pricing is rumored to be about $800 w/o hood which is the same price as the shaker for older mustangs. I plan on buying their matching hood and keeping the factory hood. Speculation is their hood will run about $500. Either way it's not available yet and I don't have enough cash saved up, but it will be one of the first things I add. BTW here's the link to the 2005 Mustang section of their website:
