Cleaning Vinyl Stripes

Cleaning Vinyl Stripes
When waxing, I got a little bit of wax residue on the vinyl stripes. Tried washing it off with no luck. Thinking of trying Armor All but, wonder if the oil would damage the stripes when out in the hot sun. Any advice?

Try rubbing alcohol. If not try regular alcohol (not the drinking kind), I would not use amorall, might stain. Windshield washer fluid also works some times. As you probably already know do not rub hard as it will leave a wear mark. there are other alternatives such as some paint cleaner solutions (be careful with these). Also here is some info from the baltimore street mods guy on here

Brian: I just had BSM vinyl stripes installed... my installer recommended Aerospace 303 vinyl cleaner/protectant for the stripes. He applied after install, and stripes have a awesome sheen and feel like silk. Now, it's just wipe with a damp cloth to remove grime (and even bird droppings). It's relatively inexpensive and goes a long way.

Thanx....Hopefully one of these days I'll get the stripes painted on.

I waxed mine with the rest of the car. I talked to Ron at BALTIMORE STREET MODS were I got the srtripes from and he said after 30 days you can wax them with no problem.

we have flat black stripes on ours, and when we get wax on them we have to use a dampen a rag with Deep Purple or Purple Power to get them back the way they should be...i know it sucks to use that on paint, but on the vinyl it does it's job...

That's why I'm happy with my white stripes... wax buildup on the edges (next to painted surface) doesn't show (as least not as much as it shows with darker stripes), and can easily be removed with a clean t-shirt over a fingernail. Personally, I don't wax the stripes... I use Aerospace 303 vinyl protectant.. easy to apply and buff.

Yes I did. I thought they looked shiny and streaky so I cleaned it off. Since then I've just zainoed them with the rest of the car and I think they fine.

Thanks again DoctorQ! My 303 stuff came in Monday and it works like a charm!

He told me that the stripes needed to cure for the 30 days without the wax "sealing" them. I guess it can take that long for all the moisture to evaporate out from underneath, although living in FL I doubt it took mine that long but I waited as he recommended.
