Had the chrome fake gas cap stolen from right in my driveway, probably 20 feet from where I was sitting/sleeping inside! Also had about 200 CD's stolen, but that was my fault for having the car unlocked. This is in England no less, where the stupid thug that stole it probably doesn't even know what he stole, just thought it looked big and shiny. E-mailed Kevin to see what the damage would be on a replacement cap, I'm hoping it is relatively cheap! And I'm scared to even put it on because I think it will just get stolen again, luckily we are moving out in a month.

Anyone else had this happen?

Thanks for letting me vent!

I am not a big fan of the chrome fake gas cap. But if I were to replace my GT cap, I'd look at getting it painted, maybe- not quite sure what color or scheme, or I'd go with the V6 version. And I'd wait till I moved.

It either came off very easily, or the guys who did it were very well versed because there aren't ANY scratches around it. I never really thought about it until now, but it sure does say GRAB ME. I think if I do reattach it, I'm going to start parking with my tail facing the house.

That really sucks about someone stealing your emblem like that. I'm from the UK also and it wouldn't surprise me at all if it was some idiot just stealing it for sake of it or because it was on a mustang and you don't see them very often. By the way, how is it driving a new mustang over there? I bet you get a lot of looks as I know they are pretty rare over there. I wish I could take mine home sometimes!! Well, hope you get it all fixed.

Well I haven't taken it to a big city yet or anything, but I'm near a lot of Americans here so I just get the normal looks from them. It seems like before I got the mustang, I would see them around quiet a bit but now that I have it I hardly see any 2005+ ones! And I still can't get a break to wash the dang thing, the weather here is lovely as you know.

That's cool. Where are you located in England? I'm guessing in the country since you said you aren't near a big city. I'm from St. Andrews in Scotland. Sorry you can't wash it right now, the weather makes it almost pointless I know. Glad I can wash all the time in the nice and mild Alabama winters (if you could really call it a winter)!

You can buy cheap takeoff ones from saleen. They say out of stock on their web site, but you can call them and ask if they have any.

Those medallions are attached with a LOT of 3M tape. I'm suprised they got it off without damaging your paint or the medallion. They're not too difficult to remove, but I doubt you could just yank one off in passing.

I have a feeling they would then steal the pony from the grille. Either way, I hate people that decide they want the emblems from our cars. Heck, even a guy I work with recently had the front emblem torn of his old Chrysler intrepid. He even laughed about it cause who would want that emblem. It is just something idiots do. Buy a cheap x10 camera or something and video tape your car at night so you can catch the buggers next time....I mean, hopefully there isn't a next time.

I really recommend that you just buy a new one from the Ford Parts Counter, and not get a take-off. The emblems tend to get a little bent when they are removed, even with a hair dryer heating the 3M tape first. They are about $37 USD, or about 21.2 Pounds at today’s exchange rate.

I'm also very surprised there was no damage from them removing it. I took mine off, and it wasn't easy to do. If I ever have to replace mine, I'm putting the V6 one on. Good luck to you!

Well there goes my theory. Since you are in England you can't blame a Redneck for making a belt buckle out of it.

With the key hole maybe a rapper will have it dangling from a gold chain, YO Dog!

Caleb,
What is it like having a muscle car in the land of 1.5ltr hot rods?

Have you been challenged and rice revved? I think it would be a kick to pull into some small villiage with that American Monster.

Hah no challenges yet, but I really haven't taken her out for longer than an hour on the "highway" and my commute to work is very short. I see some real nice euro cars around here that would blow my car away, maybe when it warms up I'll see if there is a track over here. I don't want to face a ticket for street racing in my line of work.

I ended up getting the running pony style decklid emblem and some running pony emblems to replace the GT's near the door. I'll take pictures once I get them done and get her washed.
