Did you explain to her that your name was Dustin, and that maybe it was an invitation to eat you
OMG Tony, that was funny!

Well my state of New Mexico is very cool! I just moved from California so this is Way cheap here. Here's a comparo:

Ca Car Tax 8.75%
NM Car Tax 3%
Ca Reg $683.00
NM Reg $67.00
Ca Vanity ? Can't remember but it was alot
NM Vanity $15.00

Insurance, however, is exactly the same. I guess there are alot of bad drivers around here if you know what I mean.

What did you expect from someone who works at the DMV?

Just went to the DMV today and after waiting an hour and a half this is what I had to pay:

$1596 for Taxes, $143 for Title and Registration, and $47 for Personalized Plates (this was a surprise, they used to be free for a new vehicle).

$1786 Total

Just to clarify, I paid no sales tax or anything, just registration fees, and they do go down every year. Cars less than 5 years old or something are less than $100.

oh and my insurance is $1000 a year

WTF?
There are states where you pay sales tax at the Dmv?

My tags were $17. (615 sales tax, financed it)

I will wind up paying for my 2004 and 2005 taxes when I renew in August. Should be around $250 for both years. Then goes down yearly with depreciation

I bought mine in MO and live in IL. I could have financed it, but I wanted to keep my payment down. I just figured it was my down payment, well that and the D-plan. If I would have financed it my payment would have been $518 instead of $484 (Total taxes and registration $1796).

IN Maine you pay for your sales tax at the dealer. If you buy it private sale you pay when you regeister at the town hall. The part I love is this. Lets say you pay X plan or better for your car. It MSRP's for $30,000 and you get it for $25,000, you still pay the darn sales tax on the $30,000! It is ridiculous. Just because the auto manufacturer says this amount is our suggested price. Give me a break. They have list prices on everything in life yet when you go to the store you pay tax on what it actually costs you. Maine is fantastic at coming up with ways to make you part with your money but very bad at keeping jobs and young people here.

I paid for mine at the DMV. Only because I bought the car in Alabama and registered it in Florida.

Yeah that was probably me going to/comming back from King Kone. Man their tacos are great. Best $1.20 ever spent.

There's a car show at Nashua High North on Broad St on Saturday from 10-3. I should be there. It's only 10 bucks to put a car in it so I figure I have a decent chance of winning some cash.
