Can someone in the know please explain to me the steps that an order goes through from the time I order till the car gets on the lot? What are the different stages it goes though? Ive seen terms like Clean/unsched, bucked and others but I am not sure the exact steps.

Basically I ordered one last week, but some other people are having a bad experience at this dealership, so I want to make sure I am informed properly when I follow up on my order.

Thanks in advance!

At one time the ordering process was up in the FAQ.s and then removed. I believe if you did a search on Kevinb.... The most important thing to do though, now you have ordered is check in once a week with the NEW car manager and ask to see/get copy of the status report. They get these on all their orders almost daily. This will show the vin ,dates, and various steps that the car goes thru. That's all you need really at this point B) Good luck! Again if you have just ordered, nothing is going to show for a couple weeks on your vehicle...maybe longer.

Mellow, Did they give you a copy of the Vehicle Order Confirmation at Bay Area?
They didn't give me one.
I visited several Dealers on Saturday and found one dealer who could order me a car. I feel much better with this dealer.

Basically the process is as follows:

The order is submitted to the factory, it sits in an unscheduled status.

When your dealer has a unit that is allocated to them, and you are next in line, the factory will pull the order an assign a vin. (this could take a week or 6 months depending on your dealers available allocation, how many orders are ahead of you at that dealer and your priority code within that dealer's orders)

The vehicle will then be issued a build week date.

Vehicle is built.

Vehicle is shipped, usually the second week after the build week (obviously the not the case currently)

Vehicle arrives at dealer, gets prepped.

You take delivery, you get big a** grin on your face!!!

SC, yea I got a copy of the vehicle confirmation order. They printed it up for me right as they were ordering.

Just out of curiosity what other dealership did you go to?
