BON Reports a California Special is Next
The Mustang has proven over and over, that it will out sell both the T.A. and Camero.
There have been some really fast T.A.'s and Camero's over the years, but it didn't matter much, when it came to sales. That's why both of those cars are dead!
But, as a "Ford Guy" and Mustang Owner, I expect Ford Mo. Co. to give me a Stang equal to or better then a Camero or T.A.
Sooooo, if GM has a 400hp Camero priced between $25k-$32k, Ford better have the same!
IMO, the Mustang GT should have an optional SC 4.6L.
If GM can sell a 400hp GTO for $32K, Ford can sell me a 400hp Mustang for the same price.

Yes another Mach 1 would be nice. But it was recently done. To me if they made a Mach 1 on the new Mustangs, it would have the same exterior apperance additons as the 03-04's. It wouldn't be too impressed with it all. "been there done that" deal.

Make the new Mach look like a 69 Mach1 (larger black area on hood. 05 already has the 69 style.
My point is you can make a new Mach and not have that "been there done that" look.
I believe that ford should introduce its next SE car as the BOSS 302 or just Boss. Why I say BOSS 302 , is because Ford could take the 5.0 cammer motor that they already sell in the ford racing catalog and stick it into a, more or less, GT. Change the wheels, add a 69 boss C stripe a black out hood , rear deck and spoiler and your done. Then ford would have the V6, GT, BOSS 302, and GT500.
If ford brings in the GT500 in for $40,000 , then have the boss for $35,000 ,and GT as usual for $30,000 , and V6 as usual for $20,000. so basicaly every 5g buys you some cubic inches and around 100 hp. I think ford would have the ultimate line-up.

I don't think the boss will use a number.
And they won't use the cammer...
highly doubt they'll bump the 4.6 - 5.0 (thats been discussed a long time ago, was tried, and wasn't a good idea ((Spraybore))
I think it'll just be a Mustang BOSS or BOSS Mustang
Love to see the 5.4 3v N/A in it. As I'm sure anyone would.

Boss 305 anyone?
But I doubt Ford will ever go back to CID.
I agree with boomer,
I'll bet the GT/CS will be an appearance package strictly, I am sure that Mustang sales will be strong through 2007, as long as gas prices don't spike as has been theorized.
There should be a powered-up Mustang special edition by the time the Challenger is on the market in 2009. As far as I know, GM is not planning on building any ponycars in the near future.

I can't get too excited about this whole CS thing as I'm afraid it's merely going to be a cosmetic package like the last one was. And since sales of Mustangs are so brisk at the moment, I can't see Ford doing much in the way of SE's for a year or so.
This whole SE subject is very frustrating! If the CS is only an appearance package, we will have to wait till at least 2008 for a "real" SE with more H.P.
I might as well keep on saving my pennies and buy a Shelby in 2008.
But, the truth is, I can't wait till 2008. So, it looks like I am buying another GT, that is unless we hear H.P. info on the CS.
I wish Ford would of showed us "SE guys" more love when they started this 2005 Mustang Project.
There is a HUGE gap between the Mustang GT and Shelby GT500!

Everyone waiting for an SE.... don't get your hopes up.
Right now the ONLY models available are V6 and GT
And with them selling like hotcakes now, they don't NEED a special edition.(whether you want it or not)
And with the 'other pony car(s)' coming...Ford is playing it safe.

That's great, what about the other 49 states and Canada?

Well if there going to do a shelby or a C/S it definatly needs the big bar back tail lights and a ducktail and some stand up fog lights tucked into the grill area ( or at least re-do the grill so it appears that way ) ....and lets not forget the added side scoops and stripes .
Those are some of the key things that make these cars stand out and hopefully they will show up on the 07's.
Heres a pic of the type of back tail lights I would like to see on these cars.
