A bog or studder problem on downshift, any clue?

Yesterday on the NJ turnpike headed home from work I was cruising in 5th gear and traffic all around me disappeared so all I saw was wide open road. So I'm thinking, "Punch it time!" So I drop it into 4th and then this happens, the car bogs/studders (don't really know how else to explain it) dips forward like it lost momentum for a split second then whatever went wrong catches a d she takes off. I did this twice yesterday (back to back) and it also happened once on my trip back from Florida but towards the end of the trip so I just dismissed it. Any ideas as to what and why before I take her to Ford?

Also she drives normally otherwise, shifting from 1 to 5 without an issue and accelerates fine when in gear, downshifting while slowing to a stop seems fine as well.

I agree, that TSB has got to be the answer.

Well I still have no clue. I tried real hard this afternoon to make it happen again when I got home from work but it didn't happen. It may be that TSB but how would I know for sure? As for the cleaning the throttle body that was taken care of before I left for Florida so the cleanliness is definitely not an issue. For a 5 year old engine bay that sees rain, snow and all types of weather is was super clean! So I guess I'll just run it by my local Ford since 40000 miles is right around the corner.

Any other ideas please send em this way. Thanks guys!

the fuel pump tsb...mine does it on the turnpike if I use cruise over 20 minutes- when you get to the tollbooth and go to take off it nearly stalls then surges/pings just a second every time...can only replicate the condition in cruise >20 minutes, every time next takeoff will do it...found just gently romping on it a few seconds before time to slow down it seems to clear yet not very noticeable- just a stumble. downshifting to pass can be a shocker- feels like you hit something...probaly shoulda had the thing done- the wifes 07 dont seem to do it at all(automatic/V6), but the 06 sure does...

Yes this sounds exactly like what has happened those 3 times. "Feels like you hit something" ABSO-FREAKIN-LUTELY! It jerks you forward then throws you backwards, like omg what did I just hit or break. Ok so at least I have something more to go on when I bring her in for servicing. Wonder how much it'll run since I'm not under warranty?

As always thanks TMS
