Blind spots?
#1
I have been driving for 4 years... and Ive driven a truck pretty much every day of the driving part of my life... I have very little experience in a car... What are the blind stops like in the 05... are they very bad?

I don't find them any worse than other cars I own or have owned. Like the previous poster said, just turn your head and everything comes into view. I have no problem making lane changes, or merging onto the highways.

Mirrors are WAY bigger (which helps) compared to the pre05s.
And the rear quarter windows are positioned better ...
So the glance (which you SHOULD do anyway, if you don't your not driving properly) and mirror positioning you should have no 'blind spots'

This car does have a higher beltline than previous Mustangs, which leads to a bit less visibility. Also the higher, forward leaning headrests block visibility over the driver's left shoulder.
But, in all blind spots aren't too much of a problem.

I plan on getting the 3dCarbon louvers, so I will have huge blind spots. Even on my Taurus and my old Tempo I blacked-out the C-pillar windows, but it didn't matter so much on those.
I always use a "blind spot mirror" on the drivers side. That way I don't have to turn my head (and it works great for merging). I also adjusted the passenger side to eliminate any blind spot. It takes some getting used to, but it works great, and I have never had a problem. I can follow a car on both sides from the time it is in my rear view, to when it's beside me. But, I would suggest you keep doing the head turn until you are VERY comfortable with everything.

Yea of course I will be using the shoulder check... but i have had very little car experience... and the only mustang Ive driven previously was a 01... and i had a little trouble at first... but after i got used to it it was not bad... I have driven a Z71 with big mirrors for 4 years... so the mirrors on the mustang will take some getting used to...

i was having the same issue as you Z71, i had a blazer and although its no full size truck it is higher than a mustang, and i am still in the process of using the mirrors more, before i just glanced in the mirrors and automaticly turned around, now when i turn around i do have a little hesitensy(<-- spelling) trusting the mirrors more, and i do have trouble seeing out of the quarter panel, but i seem to be on the rare side of the spectrum to have this problem, you should be fine...i'm doing it, its just taking a little more time to get use to...

At autopia.com, they sell these special "autobahn" blindspot mirros - you stick 'em right onto your window, and u can see your blind spot without having to turn around - they look a little odd in the car, but dang its convienient

Oh I hear ya.
I had a 99 grand am before my 02,
and that was one thing I missed severely...the lack of mirror space.
When I drove the 05, I was estatic that it had bigger mirrors.
They aren't truck size, but they vastly improve what you can see.
