Black GT against my CS
In response to Rick's picture and smiley responses to my post...
Huh?
Rick, yeah, your car looks nice (except the auto stick part of the interior but that is my own personal opionion
) but I still don't recall ever seeing you post a timeslip. Admitedly, this thread has gone on forever and all over the place so I may have missed it??
Like Enfynet said, the early S197 autos may have a higher rear gear (lower numerically) than the GTs but the auto transmission itself does some hydraulic magic to multiply the transmission gear ratios so, given that little tidbit, some can say the auto has an unfair advantage over the manual(though it is not realized in real life).

on the short track we have here,,,which time would you like first
1/8 mile or 1/4 mile time
I want all the numbers your track gives back to you
So what this thread is trying to say... in a nutshell, is that Grabber Orange GTs are the fastest because the beautiful color gives others instant jealousy causing miss shifts and inferiority complexes (to include automatics)?
I'm sorry, someone correct me if I'm wrong here.

Is one color actually faster than another? I mean think about it. I'm serious. Is black faster than white or vice versa? Would the reflection or lack of reflection of visible light make an actual difference in speed? Even if it were a nano second? I guess we will never know because no two cars are the same on the dyno or on the track. Oh well I guess we'll just have to assume black is the fastest then.
Nah, it's a proven fact, that Orange cars are faster. Years and years of hard work by scientist in the 40s and 50s (16th and 17th century) were just as curious as we were... so they decided an experiment was the only way to solve the problem. Oranges could be thrown faster at each other than apples (red) because the color (not the texture) provided more grip for the fingers to put more initial velocity on the fruit. Being that there were no black fruits at the time (at least until the late 90s if my memory serves me right), they are still considered to be the slowest.

I still want to see the numbers that "prove" an auto is faster
Funny thing... He'd probably lose to a stock GT too
hey rick were not talking about racing grandma on the way to the grocery store, come to the track where real men race. if its money want i got it. that little 20 horsepower u got does not put u in the modified class, a real racer would know this. i will put my stock car against yours any day.
