anything we can do about the stock seats....

as the tittle says...

saleen has seats with side bolsters.....heck even my friend g35 has them.....i hate sliding around in this car....heck even the srt-8 charger has them as well....now i have one option that i can do and it is to swap in saleen seats and recover them to look like they are the stock style...but i will lose the side air bags....which i really don`t want to do..any idea`s let`em rip.........

Find out if the GT500 seats have better bolsters and swap them out. ... That will be an expensive option, but it's probably one of the only ways to retain the side airbags. I know the previous Cobras have had much better bolsters. Hell... Honda Preludes have much better bolsters. I think Ford went that route to cater to people that want comfort, or ease and convenience instead. High side bolsters usually require more wiggling to get in and out... especially in tight parking spaces.
Perhaps hit up one of the guys on the site here who have access to part numbers and prices.

You could just gain some weight so the old rear end squashes in there nice and tight between the center console and door.

I thought Saleen just recovered the stock seats with their covers.

If you're looking at a more performance-oriented seat, Cobra seats are really nice. I believe Ford used their Misano in at least one of their show cars. The only problem is mating it to the stock seat track. They do sell manual seat mounts that fit the 2005+ cars. Some of their models can be factory covered to match the leather in the Mustang.

Another avenue you may want to explore is a custom trim shop. They may be able to modify the bolsters and sew in new panels on the seat back covers. The only glitch is they may not want to get involved due to liability issues regarding the side airbags. But being familiar with the design, I believe it could be accomplished without causing deployment issues.

I'm waiting for the GT500 red/black seats to be available. If they are a direct replacement and the price is right, I'll make the swap.

My buddy got his Shelby, and I got a ride in it. The seats ARE different. Much more bolstering, and I felt snug in them (and I'm a skinny 6'0". I like the GT500 seats.
