Anyone have this problem with the auto power windows?

The other window thread made me think of this. Normally, when you press the auto down on the windows, they go down and then stop a hair above the bottom without issue. Occasionally, usually when the car is cold and I have just started it up, I'll do the auto down and it goes slightly past the normal stop area and it 'clanks' at the bottom. I'll then raise the window up and then down again and it operates normally. It is as if the safety stop isn't working and the window goes past it until it bangs into the end of it's travel. Has this happened to anyone? Any fix or TSB out there?

Very common, happens to almost all of us once in a while. No cure that I'm aware of.

I've calibrated the window numerous times to no avail. I get the infrequent CLANK as well.

At least the S197s get auto down AND up that actually work. My 00 Vic has auto express DOWN which works 1/4 the time. One CLICK might send the window down 1/4 the way, or 1/2 the way. I've rarely if ever gotten it to go down all the time with 1 click. There's no auto express UP so I have to hold the button. Going through check points is a PITA since I have to hold the button up as I leave, or click it a few times to make it go down.

My '05 and '06 windows did/do that occasionally too. I had taken my '05 to the dealer and they were pretty up front about it - yes it's happening, but we have no fix for it. Doesn't really bother me as long as the window comes back up...

Happens to me as well. It's not that often so I don't worry about it.

This happens to me too on occasion. I'm not sure why it happens or how to fix it. As long as it comes back up, i wouldn't worry too much.

My 05 has always done this from time to time, never really bothers me. I've never bothered to recalibrate them. I'm 99.9% sure doing the recalibration procedure would not eliminate the problem so why bother, plus as long as they go down and up, I don't see it as a problem.

My 05 does it from time to time.

The express down AND up on BOTH windows is one of those simple, low cost things to implement that REALLY make a difference in day to day use. I completely forget it is there until I drive someone elses vehicle and I hit the window button and it only goes up 2" and then stops. I'm usually in the "what the heck???" mode before I remember that MOST cars don't have express up on the passenger side window!

Happens to me too. I could care less as long as the windows work.

Same here. I didn't think much about it went I got the car, but now I really miss it when I'm in other cars.
