I bring my car in this wednesday since my part is in. I brought it in two wednesdays ago and they ordered a part called a junction box. They said nothing of the factory disabled feature. I am sure they checked all service bulletins and anything related to it. So after Wed I will update as to what happens.

Ok here is the update, I just picked up my car from the dealership and my global feature now works as advertised both with the key fob(roll down only) and the key lock (both up and down) They replaced the junction box which was special ordered from the factory of course. They had to reprogram my key fobs, but it is working as it has been advertised. I asked the technician about the factory deactivating the feature, and he told me he checked all service bulletins and even talked with techs from Ford and they knew of no such thing. So I hope this helps someone. It is not the most useful feature but it is something that is advertised with the active anti theft, and oh yeah it is kind of cool too

So, that's good news. It sounds like the feature does indeed work, but yours had a problem with the junction box.

Glad to hear since I ordered mine with the active anti-theft.

We all know this function is supposed to exist (the window drop feature with active anti-theft), but I can't find the documentation that states its supposed to exist. Where would I point a salesman to read that this exists?

At the moment...I can't find it!

we are not talking about the window drop feature, the global window feature is the ability to roll down your window by pressing the unlock button on your keyfob or by putting your key in the key lock and rolling the windows down by turning the key towards the front of the car or roll them up by turning the key to the back of the car. It is stated in the owners manual, I believe there is a copy of it on this website, maybe you can print it out the page with the info on it and show your salesman

Mine doesn't work either. Keyfob and keyhole both. Maybe I'll have my service guy check it out.

I had heard at the service Dept where I'm buying from and they said that they are not supposed to do the windows but just the door locks ? but then again the guy I bought from said that his Lincolin was able to do the windows with the FOB ? Hummm

What they've done (i think) is add "(if equipped)" into the second version of the manual so that if the feature doesn't work, the idea is that it wasn't meant to work. I got my car a week ago and no, neither thing works. After I drive it some more, I'll take it in also.

No, it always said "if equipped." If you don't have the active anti-theft system, your car is not equipped with it.

Thanks holderca1 and StangNut.

I must've glazed over the owners manual a dozen times. "Grrr...I know I read it some place."

They do put it in a strange place, I know it comes with the alarm, but it would make more sense to put it with the rest of the power windows section.

I've read a few threads on this. I'm definitely aware the key won't work. My car was built week of 1/24/05. BUT, the key FOB should work and it does not. Yes I do have the Active Alarm, I paid for it and have the motion sensors. The sensors are working perfectly. Now, has anyone solved the key FOB problem? Mine definitely does not lower the windows.

thanks,

Luis

All you need is VCM 25 or later. One of the guys in Stangnet passed this on. I had the dealer check and they said my car had the latest software so all they had to do was enable the feature. It is as simple as them hooking up their computer and selecting enable. Now both my key cylinder and FOB work.

Mines not working either. I'll take it in next week and see if the "techs" can understand what you guys have posted. Any advice on what to tell them to look for?

Wow! Great news! I wonder if they're using this fix on the line already?
