To see if my audio system I am thinking of will draw too much power from the alternator. I don't want to screw up the electrical system. Did that in my 2000 v6.

The shaker 1000 has two subs and two amps in the trunk. Its also a bigger battery than 00, so I doubt it would be a problem.

ok, you guys are doubting me I see. Here is the system I have waiting to be installed, pending delivery of my car-

Alpine CDA 9835

MB Quart PWE-130 5.25" components 130w
MB Quart PCE-213 5.25" speakers 100w
Alpine MRV-F540 4 channel Amp 150wx4

JL 8w0 8" midbass speakers 75w
Alpine MRP-T220 2 channel Amp 90wx2

JL 10w6v2 Subwoofer 700w
Alpine MRD-M1001 Sub amp 1000wx1

With a 4 chann, mono, and 2 chann amps all running. Plus neons under the dash...I am going to be drawing quite a bit.

Does anyone know the answer to my orginal question?

EDIT: Grantsdale, I see the confusion now. My bad. The system I have in my 2000 right now is nowhere close (power wise) to what is going in the 05.

That sounds like a good plan to me. Do you plan to run two batterys too?

I'll try and dig up any info I can on that. Something you guys with systems will also want to maybe include is at least 1fard capacitor. That will help balance any loads being drained by the system and help keep the headlights from dimming under heavy sound useage.

It sometimes says the output right on the alternator itself if someone with the car wants to take a quick peak.

I've read that both the V6 and GT models have 130 amp alternators.

Here is what I have found out, i'm not 100% sure its accurate, but its all I got so far:

It's a bit of a tricky question...

The new Stangs are equipped with a "Smart Charge" system, so the alternator only puts out as much as is needed based on demand. This is all controlled by the computer.

I'm not sure what the peak output is, but I'm guessing somewhere around 130 amps. I'll look into it and post back.

<EDIT> It is 135 amps @6000 rpm (that's alternator rpm).

Does ANYONE even try to use Fords web site? LOL.

Go the the MUSTANG home page and then go to the SPECS page.

http://www.fordvehicles.com/cars/mus...eatures/specs/

See the "Manufacturer's Specs (PDF)" link? TRY IT!

For the instruction impaired-> http://www.fordvehicles.com/assets/p...tang_specs.pdf

The GT alternator has a 92 amp idle rating, 135 amp peak rating.
