Any more input on the Shaker 500 or 1000 problems?

This is a scary but interesting thread...

Today I had 2 cd's constantly skipping but they worked fine yesterday. The song would skip, I would then start the song over and it worked fine. The head unit definately has issues. I will wait till the summer and then see if FORD will replace it with the "next version" cause I am sure they will get enough complaints that they will start making a new head unit that fixes these problems. At least I hope so.

Were they commercial/store bought CDs, or did you burn them yourself?

Get an ocasional skip... I will remove all discs, clean 'em, re-insert 'em and if the problem continues... I'll take it in for service.

I took a GT w/Shaker 1000 out for a 40 mile test drive today. (you have to LOVE having your mom work at the dealer... Especially when SHE signs the salesmen's pay checks!). I took a long my pack of home burned MP3 that I have had for about the last 3 years or so. Used hard, scratched, etc.

The results were that it played 4 of the 5 disks just fine. It did give the bad disk error on one disk that has given me issues in the Kenwood as well and spit it out. The next disk I fed it it played just fine. No issues with going track to track or disk to disk.

All in all, I am very impressed with the Shaker 1000 (name stinks though...). I tend to be very discreminating when it comes to audio because I have way above normal hearing in both frequency range and sensitivity, so I can hear noise that most people don't even know is there. As a general summary, I have to say nice bass, clean power and fairly clear sound. It isn't quite as clear as my system in the car, but that also had all MB Quartz drivers too.

After listening to it, I did decide that it would be worth the extra cash to get it upfront. Eventually, it WILL be upgraded, but it should tide me over for a while. I don't think the S500 would have done the job.

Now I just have to get my car ordered.

My Shaker1000 worked flawlessly for 2-3 weeks before it suddenly stopped playing cd's

I have no issues before suddently it didn't like every disk I owned. Store bought or burned didn't matter.

Is there a recall or notice yet in the ford repair bank?

I'm not sure what Ford has but when I took my Cavalier to my Chevy Dealer --They typed in my symptoms for a rattle in my transmission and came up with a predetermined job number for a inharmonic balance between the engine and transmission. The system then printed out a sheet that detailed the symptoms, problem definition and remedy.

Mine works OK But, I'm going to change it out for a better radio.
Went out and got a Alpine IVAD300 system with the Ipod upgrade. It will be installed this saturday.

How much do you think I can get for the shaker 500 head unit??

I have met two other 05 owners and we all have faulty Shaker 500 systems where the CD skips and sometimes cuts song off near the end. Thats not a good sign. Also have a whine in the rear axle. have to drop mine off for a week while dealership takes it apart. Has this been a problem for anyone else?

All the people that havn't recieved there car yet you shouldn't worry to much, you have to keep in mind all you are going to hear in this thread is about all of the broken systems very rarley will someone post a positive response. So these could be like the 2% not working.

I have the Shaker500 system. I had the CD Player replaced 2 weeks ago because the cds whether new or burned would emit occassional garbled sound, then it would restart from the point of the garbled sound. This would happen more frequently on burned discs. Also, regarding all burned discs, as the laser reached songs toward the end of the cd, the music would have a static sound coming out of the speakers, then disc stops abruptly and shifts to the next disc. Fogetabout MP3, it would only read the first 3 tracks of the first folder, before shifting the cd or spitting it out.

These were are all discs that are read clearly on all my other cd systems including my cheap cd walkman and including my cd component from my stereo system purchased in 1989. Also, I am cautious when handling my cds to avoid fingerprints and/or scratching of the discs.

Now to Shaker500 Player #2 placed in my TorchRed GT 2 weeks ago... Unfortunately same problem...brand new cd...put in...plays perfectly, next day one of the tracks is garbled, player resamples the track, starts back at the point of error and plays through. Same Problems with other original cds. You cannot predict when or if it will occur, sometimes it does on one track, sometimes not. But unfortunately, even on this replacement model, it is rare the cd that plays through without a problem.

Burned CDs? Unfortunately I have yet to be able to play one yet through without some garbling of music including static towards the end of burned cds. I cannot and will not accept the excuse of brandname of cdr as I do use brandname cdrs and burn at the lowest speed.

I own a 1994 Buick beater that I will use over the winter with a cheapeo BestBuy indash CD player...which has never given me any problems. All CDs burned or original play without any problem.

With this said, I do love my Mustang, however I purchased the Shaker500 for my Mustang because I enjoy to listen to music and I thought that with its mp3 capability I would be able to listen to a wide range of my music on my business trips. Ford must know that there is a problem. I would hope that it's addressed asap.

According to the poll 25% of us are having some kind of trouble overall with this system.

FORD are you listening????
