Alarm system ist awfully loud

Hey There Stang lovers,

sorry for bothering you with such a "lame" question, but I have a Ford 06 GT with an alarm system (probably factory) and when I press the left button on the corner :

one time: it locks the doors.
two times : it horns two times, and its awfully loud.

what the heck can I do? how can I check what kind of alarm system I have?

Thanks in advance

it sounds like the factory system. if so, you don't have to press it twice if you don't want the horn to sound. it is just a way to double check. here is the section in the owners manual (the icons didn't paste, so i just put the button in " " ):

1. Press "lock" and release to lock all the doors. Note: The interior lamps
will turn off (unless the dome lamp control is in the full-up position),
and the turn signal lamps will flash if all doors, trunk and hood (if
equipped with active anti-theft system) are closed and locked. If the
vehicle is not equipped with the active anti-theft system, the turn signal
lamps will flash if all doors and the trunk are closed and locked.
2. Press "lock" and release again within three seconds to confirm that all
the doors are closed and locked. Note: The doors will lock again, the
horn will chirp once and the turn signal lamps will flash once more.
If any of the doors, trunk or hood (if equipped with active anti-theft
system) are not properly closed the horn will make two quick chirps and
the turn signal lamps will not flash. If the vehicle is not equipped with
the active anti-theft system, the horn will make two quick chirps and the
turn signal lamps will not flash if the doors and the trunk are not closed
and locked.
Opening the trunk
Press "trunk" once to open the trunk.
• Ensure that the trunk is closed and latched before driving your
vehicle. Failure to properly latch the trunk may cause objects to fall
out or block the driver’s rear view.
The remote entry system allows you to open the trunk while the ignition
is in any position. However, if the ignition is in the 3 (ON) position and
the vehicle is in motion, the trunk will not open if the vehicle is moving 3
mph (5 km/h) or faster.
Sounding a panic alarm
Press "panic" to activate the alarm. The horn will sound and the turn signal
and interior lamps will flash for a maximum of approximately 3 minutes.
Press again or turn the ignition to the 2 (ACCESSORY) or 3 (ON)
position to deactivate, or wait for the alarm to timeout in 3 minutes.
Note: The panic alarm will only operate when the ignition is in the 1
(OFF/LOCK) position.

Sure I do...but they are screwing with my ride because its too loud when I "lock" the car....

although reading the previously mentioned manual part.....

I never noticed that the turn signal lights are flashing (maybe its an after effect making the car ready to the european standards)

Anyway Thank you very much for the information.

btw : where can I find the factory alarm? (physically)

Thanks in advance

i don't have time right now to look for where the actual module is, but according to the service manual.... which doesn't make sense.... the actual anti-theft alarm horn is behind the right hand side rear quarter panel trim... which from what i can tell, is the trim piece next to the rear seat.

i thought the anti-theft alarm horn was the actual car's horn that you press with the steering wheel. not sure if the info is correct. i guess try listening to the passenger rear quarter panel area of the car to see if that is where the sound is coming from. i don't think that info is right.

will check better later, but it seems the alarm module is part of the smart junction box.
