I took the car on a road trip this week, and road a ferry both ways.

During the trip, the car alarm started going off, both trips (both directions). The captain had to make an announcement:

"Would the owner of a Black Mustang License Plate ... Please return to their vehicle. Your alarm is sounding"

Oof. As much as I love hearing that announcement and realizing, 'Hey, thats me!', I gotta stop this alarm from going off.

Is it the movement of the ferry? Or is it something else? Is there a way to deactivate it temporarily while keeping the car locked?

I'm a first-time car owner, so sorry for the silly question..

Musta came with the optional "ferry alert" system. All kidding aside, it's probably the motion detector that set it off.

I believe that if you lock the car with the keys, as opposed to the remote, you will not activate the active anti-theft system. Only the passive system will work, and the angle sensor will not sound if the boat rocks.

Check your manual.

Aha.

That must be it, because when I sat in the car afterwards, I noticed quite a bit of rocking.

Wow, that's neat.

Thanks.

Instead of the remote, use the key in the door. This locks the vehicle and monitors the perimeter, but does NOT arm the inclination or motion sensors. Good for flatbeds, ferries, etc. See page 75 of the owner's manual.

I hate how sensitive my alarm is. Everytime a stupid rice rocket drives by my shop, the alarm goes off. I have customers that get a little too close that are lookin at it, and it goes off. Is it adjustable at all?

I'd rather keep it this way. Better that is it sensitive than going off when it is too late.

The alarm will arm on the first button push. The lights flashing signifies that the alarm has been armed.

Like others have said the car must be locked using the key to lock it without arming the motion and inclination sensers.
