I noticed the backrest trim cover for the front seats has only 1 part number ( no difference between airbag/non airbag ). Is there no difference other than the label?

 

Probably not. Airbags are pretty powerful and should be able to bust through vinyl or cloth seat material.

My grandfather worked for ford. He was an engineer in the Police Interceptor program. He said that when the cars first started getting airbags, he was asked if the shotgun rack would damage the airbag in an accident. My grandfather's response, No, the airbag is going to throw the shotgun out the back window.

 

Thats what I thought, but still waiting for a definitive answer .... anybody?

 

I still have not found out if this would work or not. I tore a whole in my drivers seat. I found a replacement cover, but it is from a non airbag car. I do not want to interfere with the operation of the airbags. Anyone know for sure?

 

Just a thought... Have you gone to your dealers parts department and asked them to compare the two for interchangeablity?

If you decide to go to leather, it's fairly easy and the guy will ask you whether or not it's a vert or coupe, and whether or not you have side airbags...I just switched mine over to leather (although no side airbags) and dragging my feet I did the whole thing in a weekend. I paid $315 shipped for mine on ebay.

I actually wanted Torch Red with red leather interior. She said it looked like early spanish *****house.

 

That's what I got Chuck (Red on Red) and I love it. It sure gets lots of compliments around this neck o' the woods.

I went looking for a 500, a nice family car and ended up with a GT vert which I then parlayed into a GT vert AND the Cobra coupe. I can give up some colors for that. We pretty much decide most things together. I have grown to really like the color especially since it was discontinued. I like the purple it gets in the right light that the VB does not have. No offense taken, we have been together for 16 yrs and seem to do alright just the way it is.
