Have any of you with side air bags noticed a bulge in the upper side of the driver seat?

i think the big bulge is the air bag itself, i went on a website and found a clip thats said this:
-designed to protect both the head and chest of front-seat occupants, the airbags are mounted in the front seatbacks so they are always in the optimal deployment position no matter where the front seats are located.
http://www.burdford.com/brochures/05Mustan...%20Airbags'
pg 14 on the PDF Document
Not sure, haven't done much research on the airbag itself, maybe it says it in the owners manual as well, but I would like to know what that big bulge is on the seat if its not the airbag....

I have the side air bags and noticed a bump there. Felt around and am 99.9% sure that is the air bag, a friend has a similar bump on his g35 seats with the side air bags.
After being in an accident where the air bags definately saved me from real injury, I'm a big fan of them. Think they should come standard on all cars though, not as an option.

If the seatbacks house the side-impact airbags, one would have to assume that this severely impacts the freedom to install custom upholstery (?).
I read the info in the pdf, so I'm not doubting it's true. But it does not line up with the information about the airbags and the IUP door panels. It was my understanding that the whole reason the buyers must have IUP to get airbags is because they had been tested with the IUP door inserts for proper deployment and that testing had not occurred for the standard interior.
So if the bags are in the seats, why the requirement for IUP to get them? This is more of a rhetorical question I suppose, because we don't really have any way of answering it...
This board and its members are a great source of information. I appreciate y'all a LOT. ...and you keep me sane while I *patiently* wait for baby.

I have side air bags in my Accord and I hate them. After a while you begin to feel them in the seat, and it makes a funny noise when you rub against it with your back. I WILL NOT be getting them in my GT.

Diff'rent strokes......
I read 'Air Bag in Seat' as the title. And then you all go an talk about side air bags.
Sheesh. Here I was thinking "Dude, what happened, it fell off the wheel?'
And then I thought "No, this is a topic about a new ejection device for annoying passengers. Poof! - bye bye pax!"

Your funny.
Bulge or no bulge, side air bags are worth it. I just lost a friend of over forty years who was t-boned at an intersection by a drunk driver. My friend was in hospital for a year, then a quad for four years before he passed away. He was hit on the driver's side, and side bags probably would have helped in some way.
Whatever, for a few hundred bucks, and maybe a bulge in the seat, I'll feel better driving in my new GT. One reason why I decided to buy an 05 Mustang (never had a Mustang before) was the safety features on the car. It's still not a Volvo, but then I can't get a RWD Volvo with 300 h.p. and retro looks.
