I too dont understand why people park next to a car that is sitting way out all by itself, you would think they would understand why you parked way the heck out there anyhow. Maybe they do it just to **** you off??

There is only one answer to that.

BUILD IT and they will come!

Yah, i'm afraid to park in public. Found a new ding (3rd on the car) yesterday washing it. It's right in front of the gas cap, so someone opened a back door into me. I have no idea how, as I'm paranoid when I park.

Now i'm going to be even more paranoid.

I never got over it. Had my car since November of last year, and I still take up 4 parking spaces in the back and limit where I go in it. If I have a hesitation about parking in a particular shopping mall, or area, I just won't do it.

Well I'm glad to know I'm not the only one. You can't be too careful when humans are concerned.

I remember once as a kid, i was sitting in my stepfathers big 'ol plymouth fury. Some rich snobby lady pulled next to us and smashed my door with hers as she got out. She looked at me and said nothing. She probably thought "who cares, it's a boat with a kid inside". So, after she went in the store, i opened my door and flung it as hard as i could into hers. Oh man does a Fury do damage!!

I only drive a beater when going to the store and i'll squeeze it in any tight spot if none is available. Of course i'm careful not to hit the car next to mine but i do notice one thing....my car has no dings....lol

Oh, one more tip for you guys. When opening up any door, i always hook my left foot under the door to prevent it from swinging open inintentionally if a gust of wind catches it. I caught a wind blown door many times with this technique.

The car is my daily driver so I don't avoid the malls and Wal-Mart's. I do take up 2 spaces there or park at the end of a row where stripes are. One place I never take my car to are Braves games or 6 flags. That's what the minivan is for.

One thing I don't mind is another nice car sharing a half space with me when I take 2 spaces. I consider that being considerate by protecting one of my sides...

Id be careful taking up 2 spots in a crowded parkinglot. Good chance someone will mess with your car because they are pissed you are taking 2 spots.

If it's crowded I drive around until I can find a premium spot at the end of a row. Basically, a place where I can park over the line a little bit without hurting anything. I certainly wouldn't take 2 spots in a crowded lot. I do it in empty lots because of the phenomenon of idiots parking next to you when there are 6 empty spaces to either side of the car.

I am paranoid about parking lots. At work I put my car cover on, to prevent dings. At shopping centers, I take my wifes car. If I have to take mine then it's as far away from any other car that I can get.

My wife thought I was the only one so obsessed. I don't mind a decent walk to avoid parking near someone in a lot. I usually am able to find the "perfect spot" where no one is even close. On those occasions when I can't control the parking situation (Yankees games, amusement parks, NYC lots) I take one of our other cars.

Heh, it ruins my morning if someone takes my safe spot at work. If it is someone that works at my company, my coworkers give them crap all day without me even asking because they know how I am.

I now park between 2 guys I work with in the ER. They both love there vehicles dearly one has a modded out JEEP and the other has a new HEMI Ram. And they know how much I love my mustang, so im not worried about them hitting it. We take up a short row and give each other plenty of room.

It's the "nicks" and "dings" that are cause by... well, let's say an act of God, that are the worst. I'm talking about rocks getting slung by the truck in front of you, or getting the portion of your rear bumper cover right behind the back tires nicked up because of your tires throwing rocks up and "nicking" it. I'm not over it by any means but, unfortunately, if you drive it often (every day in my case), stuff like this is bound to happen. Fortunately, the little nicks on my hood and behind my rear tires aren't noticable at all (can't see them unless you're right on top of them, looking for them). I'm just very **** about my 'Stang!

Right there with you guys.
I hate parking in public the only time it doesnt bother me is when we meet up with our other Stang friends and we all park together for shows etc.
Other than that the only cure that I found was to buy a beater vehicle which is what I did. Cant tell you how much better it feels having the Stang for FUN and the beater for everything else.

How do you guys get your ladies to put up with this though? I swear it's genetically ingrained in every female to park as close to the place as humanly possible, and ***** about it after you park and they find a closer spot while walking in. I'll soon be on the market again, and although my soon-to-be X understood, I don't think it would go over so well in the dating scene. Maybe I just need to get a beater for dating. Heh, wait, maybe that wouldn't work so well

I am female and can tell you that I am just as obsessed about parking my car away from everyone else, even if it means walking a 1/2 mile to where I have to shop. I also take note on which way the wind is blowing so that the shopping carts don't blow my way.
With my last Mustang, I would even put a car cover on it to further protect it from careless people.

About two months ago, I went to Olive Garden with the family and searched for a safe spot to park my car. I parked waaaaaay away from the restaurant near another '07 Pony. When I got back, a yellow ricer with a huge butt wing was parked near the stangs. I guess he thought that was a safe spot for his car as well.
It's cool when other people respect cars too......I wish all folks were like that!

Park far away

my girlfriend hates hwen I drive around the parking lots looking for a end spot so I can park far enough away from the next car. If I can't find a end spot I park way really far away where no one else is parked.

Get a new girlfriend.
She isn't sensitive to your needs.
