Some would say that might be a better investment Perry. Hope things are going well for you.

Oh, and I saw your car in MM/FF - that's AWESOME!

I've had my 05 since 12/28/04 and it's still door-ding free.
What I do is look for the spaces on the end of a row where it has space where I can park over the line and leave enough room for someone to park in the space on the other side of the car and open their door and not touch my car.

But I almost had a problem yesterday. I stopped at the store to buy three or four items (inside about 10 minutes). I found a spot next to a stripped area and parked across the line to allow another car to park and open their door all the way and not hit my car.
When I came out of the store I found a large car (I believe a newer model Lincoln) parked ACROSS THE LINE AT AN ANGLE close to my car. If I had been parked in the center of the space I would have had to wait for the other driver to move their car as I would have had no room to get in mine.

I didn't see any damage to the car (but I'm going to look it over again today) so I think the driver was alone.

Las Vegas is hard on car's. From one of the highest auto theft ratings in the nation to general road hazard's/ rock's & sand to the amount of vandalizing punk's running around it is a nightmare!

My Pony was keyed two week's after I bought her. She now only goes to car shows and the race track...I never take her anywhere I can't maintain constant eye contact with her. I tried to find the punk that keyed it by reviewing security film from the parking garage, of the resort I was working at to no avail. It was a good thing though in retrospect because I might be in prison currently.

In my case I didn't spend 29K (out the door) for a 2005 Mustang GT to leave it in the driveway (don't have a garage) and never drive it.
My Mustang is my daily driver as I don't have another car.
So rain or shine I drive my car to and from work, run errands and of course the cruises and car shows.

I hate to park my park in public sometimes, but what can I do?
It's my daily driver so when I need to stop at the store or at a restaraunt I simply park away from other cars and hope for the best.

The only time I was really worried about the car was when I started working at a different station (I work for an ambulance service).
Where I work we park in the same garage as the ambulances, and I heard stories of personal cars getting damaged either by people pulling their ambulance out when they start their shift (or parking at the end of the day) or by other personal cars.

So far so good, I've been out of the station for a little over a month and nothing has happened...yet.

When I enter the garage in the morning I look for an out of the way spot and so far I haven't had any problems.

Thanks God I have the second car, so I driver her only if there is no rain, I know where I am going and I know I can park her in a safe place....She never seen a rain in her life....

She is 2 months old and has only 700 miles. I know this is crazy but I just can't see her getting hurt....
I'm extremely paranoid about my baby. This is my first sports car and it's black so as you can imagine, it's a pain to keep looking good. Unfortunatley that means she is in the garage most of the time. Mainly because I don't go anywhere. But anyway, you're all gonna laugh your asses off when you hear this, mine is almost a year old with 1180 miles on her. That's it! As I said it's mainly because after work or whatever I just feel like relaxing and most of the time my buddies are busy with stuff so I have no place to go. I must rectify this.

Maybe I should forget about parking and have someone go in and get whatever I need while I circle around

I love this topic because like many of us, I am quite **** about keeping this car basically showroom. I just like the idea of the car looking practically new by the time I pay it off.

There are some places I will just basically not take the Mustang. There are certain places where the element will just be MUCH worse than most places and attract those that don't give a F about your car. Here are some examples of such places IMO:

Wal Mart: Attracts generally bad element of people including kids, SUVs etc that just open doors and toss carts and will not giving a second thought

Any Mall lot: Attracts lots of kids and women who generally don't give a F about your car or anything else

Fast food resturants: As the name implies, people in these lots are almost always carrying kids and are in a hurry. Doors fling open etc etc. The drive through is the only way I'll do it.

As a rule of thumb, I generally don't take the car to any shopping lots because these are places where you are almost definitely going to gain some dings.

The other challenge I have is work. They don't seem to cut the grass on a set day. It never fails that when I decide to take the car to work, I'll hear the mowers and blowers too late. Why can't those knuckleheads point the chutes AWAY from the cars and not toward!??

Damage can even happen in your own driveway by inconsiderate people. I had some female throw rocks at my car last Wednesday morning while she was having it out with my girlfriend's son. Five rock chips on the back window. It's a costly repair, thank god for insurance.

Another warning.. if you must park at a grocery store...chose your spot carefully... you may want to park next to other cars here, but make sure they are nice, well kept cars. No beaters or kid haulers.

My story? When i was a lad in high school, I worked at a grocery store. I drove a red 1994 nissan hardbody truck. (i know a lot of people see them as cheap grocery haulers, but where i live, the nissan hardbody has a cult status riavled only by the mustang) Mine was a few years old, but emaculate.. I waxed it every week, and spent every saturday keeping it showroom fresh. I always parked away from other cars, in the furtherest, hardest to get to corner of the parkinglot. Didnt help. I got off work one day to find a grocery cart resting agasint my fender....pulling the cart back I saw a dent 8 inches wide and 2 inches deep....somone took a running start and hit my truck as hard as possible. I never did find who did it, either. The store didn't have security cameras. Probably some hater with an ugly hardbody, or a ricer honda.

I have, but I won't consider it until I repaint the hood. No point putting a clear bra over rock chips eh?

While online and waiting for my 05 to be built some GT babe said she parked wayyyy out to avoid dings and some fool pulled up and intentionally blasted his POS door into her's... like MAJOR (intentional) damage!

So far I'm the only person dinging mine... they're minor dings and I will get them fixed but it still makes ya wanna kick your own a s s !!

Oh well, yeah park next to nice cars when you can and if you don't have a choice pay attention to the door length and potential swing of any car you're parking near... and leave as much "polite" space as you can.

If I make any enemies it's at high speed, never in the parking lot.

My husband is the car paranoid one in the family. When we are out together he is FOREVER I can't believe you parked there. Don't park next to that POS, are you crazy?
With the exception of one little door handle ding I got at Six flags last year, my car is still immaculate.
I like to park up front whenever possible, and next to a curb whenever possible as well. Otherwise, screw it.

I follow all the same rules. No malls, no WalMart, etc. Last week, I took the ragtop to the fireworks in town. All parking was in a field, and you were directed to the next open spot. I parked, got out of my car, and asked the guides to put some extra space between me and the next vehicle. I also waited until the next car pulled up, so I could be standing there hawking my car when they got out of theirs. Luckily, the attendants did give me space, and I knew the person pulling next to my car.

Who would have thought that owning a car would be so much work...
