I'll be parking as far away from others as possible when my new car comes in.

Except at work, simply because the entire parking lot fills up so I have no choice but to park next to someone on at least one side. I'll be seeking out the spots next to light posts, islands, and walk ways.

You may want to stay away from lightposts because birds will routinely poop on your car. I found this out the hard way.

I usually try to find a safe spot as well. Unfortunately, today I'm at work and besides worrying about other cars in the parking lot there is a chance of hail!

I'm right there with you.
Only problem I have is at work during the summer mowing season. I have gone out and moved from spot to spot to try to keep away from the mowers and the trimmers. They're not on any type of schedule otherwise I wouldn't drive her on the days they're mowing.

I’m on the new car diet. It’s where you can eat all you want, you get plenty of exercise by walking to and from where you parked your car.

I worked two months last summer rebuilding the body and fixing everything on my Aerostar van as my second vehicle. It’s old, has lots of miles, but works day in and day out. I love that workhorse van, and it is a critical part in keeping the Mustang pristine. I will always have a van as a second vehicle.

No random trips to Home Depot in the Mustang - always the van. No McDonald’s trips in the Mustang - no eating in the Mustang either. The only trips out (except for work and just “fun rides to nowhereâ€) are the “occasions†with the wife, mostly dinners out.

I worked (yes, worked!) six years protecting my 2000 Mustang and I will continue to work on this 2006 as well. It’s my toy and my joy - it’s not just transportation. There are two types of people - those who buy a special car for the joy of the toy (and have alternate vehicles for running around and bad weather), and those who buy a car to drive it all the time. There is no right or wrong here, just different personality types. I’m the former.

My wife gets a kick out of me parking in the next county when we go out. She understands me, however. I always let her off at the door and I go and get the car when we’re done.

Unless she is in the mood for that romantic two-mile walk to my car …

You know I find this a fascinating topic.

I'm the type of person who has ALWAYS parked farthest away. Looking for the "best" spot.

I drive a '91 Mustang and do the same thing with that. Although it's in excellent condition, and I'm now getting it restored so it will be even worse

I've had friends make fun of me, and others completely agree with me.

I even got into an actual argument with a friend of mine because I didn't want to park my car ( my new '06 ) on the street in between several others on a street where the traffic was so bad that I've seen SEVERAL cars get side-swiped and one completely totalled from a drunk smashing into the rear.

When I go over his house I park across the street, still ON the street mind you, but a much quieter street in a nice neighborhood with no cars in front or behind me.

To me, I KNOW it would ruin my day if I came out and my car was screwed up from somone hitting it. SO it's worth it to me to park far away or find a good spot.

Unfortunately, living in Los Angeles, I can't ALWAYS find a good spot. (Love this town... sarcasm... sarcasm... sarcasm) And when that happens I just suck it up and pray that nothing happens.

But at the end of the day if something DOES happen I know I've done my best to prevent it so I wouldn't feel too badly. I'd still be angry, but not at myself and that's what's important... I think anyway

Have mine for over a year now and I still park in BFE despite some rock nicks, a scratch and a minor door ding (which I recieved at work 'cause I didn't get my "choice" spot).

I'll take care of it and continue to warn my passenger that they better get ready to walk when I park.

At work, I park at the furthest corner spot, at least one door is safe. And I don't park near other cars. When leaving work, I always check out how close the car next to mine is (if there is a car).

In public parking spots, as much as possible, I make sure I park in a space that does not have cars beside it.

The real problem is that other people park next to you just to do damage.

I look for the most protected spot possible. My wife is used to walking long distances when we park somewhere. Oh well - its good exercise. Just visited my daughter in OK City this week, she let me park in her garage, and parked her car in the driveway.

I have been parking at the far end of parking lots since I bought my Cobra back in 1998. The only marks I got on it is rocks from the road and it has 107,000 on the clock.

I did stop by Lowes one day to get something and of course I parked at the far end of the parking lot. When I went in the store there were no cars anywhere near me. When I came out there was the most nastiest pickup truck (probably hauls garbage) parked right next to me and no other car anywhere near us. Think he did it on purpose? I do! Of course I checked out my car to make sure he didn't bang the door when he rolled out of the truck!

In my 2006 I was parked at the far end of the parking lot during lunch one day but that didn't stop some kind of work truck from scraping my fender and leaving without leaving me a note. Talk about mad! I could tell it was probably a work truck by how high on the fender the scrap was.

20 months, 33k miles, and only 1 little ding. I still park far away from other cars when I can, and I'm not shy about taking 2 spots either even when the lot is empty that far out. I started doing that after parking way out and still finding some slacker parking next to me. If I must park next to someone I look for 35k plus cars or minivans. Sliding doors are Mustang friendly.

My wife is actually very understanding. She sees how much I obsess over the car. I always offer to drop her off but she usually chooses to walk with me. She appreciates the value of keeping something you buy and love in top shape.

Now if I could just figure out a way to keep the nasty rock chips away. Langka works ok but I figure I'll still need to have the hood repainted next year......

Sometimes even parking away from other cars doesn't work, my friend in his 03 Mach 1 parked out away and a rogue shopping cart broke free in a dust storm and.. well you know the rest of the story

hey Radman have you ever looked into the "Clear Bra" for your front end? Its custom cut to your front bumper and hood, made of clear vinyl, can't even tell its there unless upclose and the rocks bounce off!! First I witnessed a demo at the SEMA Show and several of our club members have it on thier cars and as soon as I get my new one its going straight to the shop where they install it!!

Hello everyone
My name is Perry and I have a mustang Problem
I care more for my stang than the other morons that park right next to my car.

how did I solve the problem.
I blew my FREAKIN supercharger money for a 98 Ford Ranger. I can tell you that I feel ALOT better knowing that my stang is safe in the garage while I am working at the MALL.
