Glad you got to stop in Lex Vegas! I'm from Frankfort and lived in Lex for four years, and loved it. Too bad I didn't see this thread a while back - I could have recommended some great restaurants/bars/roads.

It did make me homesick, though - I miss living down there. You're right, Lexington is a nice little city with nice people. Central Indiana's ok, but I miss my hills

Glad you had a safe trip, and thanks for posting the story!

Well Chris after you get settled in you will have to meet me at Sierra Nevada for dinner and a couple of beers. We can let the Ponies graze together.

I'm envious. I would love to take a trip like that only on all the old highways instead of the Interstates. Sounds like a great time. Wonderful pics.

So this is what jealousy feels like .

That looks like such a great time. I'd love to be able to do that, it's even better that you were able to do so much travel in daylight. I'm usually about getting from point A to point B and to my own bed, which means driving nonstop, through nights to get to my destination.

Looks like a great trip. And you're 100% right about the beauty of this country. :flag2: I hope that our generations are able to provide future generations with the great country that "The Greatest Generation" built for us. Taking a drive like that must really make you appreciate the greatness of this country and the hard work of our Grandparents.

Stay Safe, and thanks for the beautiful pics.

Glad y'all liked the pix. I had the time of my life, even though I felt a little rushed at times. I just tried to live in the moment.

Traffic was pretty light for the most part; it only got dicey while passing through the larger cities. Still, I managed to keep my "pace car" in sight at all times. I was amazed.

This trip afforded me the opportunity to stretch my Mustang's legs a little. The speed limit was 75 mph for a good portion of the trip, so I was able to have a little fun. And yeah, I "slipped" a couple of times. Just a couple.

And Rich, keep those Sierra Nevada Pale Ales on ice! I'll be there soon enough.

Pics look great Chris.

You need to take more of the car in front of some of the great scenery you pass.

Maybe some land marks and see if anyone else has been by there.

Here's mine from my trip to Rhode Island in July, going again Saturday to take more photos. Just kidding, family is on vacation. But I will take more photos!

Great choice! Did you happen to check out Pazzo's Pizza Pub near UK? It was on Limestone, west of downtown.

Tom: There's a job waiting for me if I want it, but I'm still taking the opportunity to check out my options.

Carol: The camera I used was a Canon Powershot S500 Digital Elph. It takes some really good pictures, but it's cranky when it comes to focusing on some things! For every decent pic you take, there are two that are not-so-great. Oh well

Robb: That's an awesome pic! Perfect color balance and composition. Well done! And your car is an ideal subject too.

Brian: I dined at the Cheapside Bar & Grille. The service was good and the food was great. I had a Kentucky Ale while I was there. I like to sample local microbrews wherever I go.

John (Adrenaline): Yeah, I've got a couple of tie-dyes. They help my friends find me in a crowd (that comes in especially handy at bars or car shows).

John (05 GT O.C.D.): I couldn't agree more. We have a responsibility to preserve the beauty of this land for future generations. It would be selfish to squander it! :usa:

Again, thanks to everyone for all of your support and your good wishes. I've only been in California for a few days, but I think I'll be able to call it home in no time. When things settle down a bit, I'm going to look into local car clubs and see where the cruise meets are being held. It's the simple pleasures, you know?
