Across America in a 2005 Mustang GT!

I finally made it! "Lucky" and I arrived safely in Sacramento, California on Friday afternoon.
The Mustang performed flawlessly during my entire 7-day trek across America. I cannot give her enough praise!
Details will follow, but for now I wanted to let you folks know what a proven trooper this car really is. No matter what the road conditions or terrain, the Mustang held it's own. That's with the AC cranking the whole time! Even with heavy construction, congestion, and some horrible road conditions, the Mustang arrived unscathed. What a relief! I took well over 500 pix along the way. It will be hard to pick a few favorites to share with y'all...
I spent $260.50 on gas from Virginia to California and I still have 3/4 of a tank! I fared remarkably well; I was planning on spending up to $500. Nice to have the extra cash in hand!

Here are a couple of pix of my journey west from Richmond, Virginia. The scenery is the real star, but I couldn't help posting a few of me with my pony! Other "views from the road" will follow.
The first is just as I was about to leave town. The rest are of me in Lexington, Kentucky, on the road out of Lexington, near the salt flats in Utah and arriving in California. Hope you enjoy!
More to follow once I can weed them out...

My buddy John took the pix of my car on the road.
Most of my photos were taken through a windshield littered with bug carcasses.
But I think I have a few worth sharing. I've just got to weed through them all.
Big country = beautiful pictures = difficult choices

Glad you and Lucky came through the trip safe............and with Pictures
Chris, we've all seen bugs on our windshields (some, more than others), so post youre pics complete with bugs. It'll be fun cause some of us will be able to identify the 100+ mph bugs.

Thanks for the good wishes and support, folks. It was nice being able to share this ride with y'all, at least in spirit!
As for the photos, I will be selecting a few more tomorrow that will best represent what I saw during my trip west. I took several hundred photos, so it will be difficult to narrow it down to a few! But I'll try...
Having a forum in which to share the ride makes it all the more worthwhile! :drive:

Okay folks, as promised, here are a few pix chosen from the hundreds I snapped as I crossed the United States in my 2005 Mustang GT...
The orange Beetle in several of my photos was driven by my buddy John, who made the trip with me and helped document the westward trek. He was my pace car; I kept him ahead of me because he doesn't have a lead foot and I thought he'd keep me outta trouble! :drive: :cop:
At any rate, words cannot describe what a blast it was to cross the country from behind the wheel of a new Mustang. It was humbling and invigorating at the same time. If you ever get the opportunity, take it! You won't regret it.
This country is beautiful! :worship: :flag2:
