I got a call from a sales guy at dealer in Rice Lake, WI to let me know that they had a GT convertible in. I'd stopped in before and the guy took my name and told me he'd do that.
I went in to check it out and they had the thing priced $44,900. Couldn't believe it. The tag said these are 'Hard to Find'.

I didn't waste any time talking to the sales guys, the price was just too unbelievable.

I should have asked him if Ford Credit would lend me that much on a car that's worth about $30K once it leaves the lot.

Anyway - anybody else seen this level of gouging?

Brad.

At this point the gouging is just a ritual. I don't think anyone should be shocked anymore.

Liccardi Ford here in NJ, had an 8,000 market adjustment on an 05 convertible, the MSRP was 33,000 and some change, add 8,000 and you have a 41,000 convertible, so much for the Mustang affordability. I just laughed when I saw this. They also had 4,000 mark ups on the three coupe GTs they had there. Needless to say, I walked out disgusted, the sad thing is, I know that someone will walk in there and pay these outrageous prices :bang:

About a month ago...on March 7th be exact...I was on my way from home from work and happened to see an 05 Mineral Grey Mustang GT Vert on a dealers lot so I decided to stop an see how much they were marking up the car (all the Mustangs I've see there was marked up $5000).
The first thing I noticed about the Vert wass NO IUP, then I walked around to the other side to look at the sticker, and this is what I found-
Total MSRP 33,165
Tires/Wheels 4,995
Markup 10,000

I remember when the first '99 GT Vert arrived at my dealer. At that time I lived in Alaska. The price: 42K. I waited a year and bought one for 17,500.

I'm certain you didn't pay $17500 for a NEW one; point taken, however...

yep I have seen a 5000 dollar market adjustment on a V-6 vert at the dealership I bought mine at. Sad thing is is that they will more than likely get it. The car is no longer there by the way, it was a sonic blue w/black top, I didnt even bother looking at it.

It's a shame what's happening, but it sure does make us "purchased at MSRP" people feel pretty good.

Most dealers around here ( Atlanta, GA ) have the GT coupe marked up $2000 - $5000 and the vert is marked up $3000 - $6000 above sticker. I would hate to see how much they are going to mark up the new Cobra....

I call five in the area and this seems to be consistant among the major dealers. ( Team Ford will deal with you however.... )

Of course, I did notice that they are not selling many at this price level....

The GT is a sweet car, but at the 40K+ level, a vette or a boxter S starts to look much better....

It all depends on the dealer.

My dealer (Northgate Ford) gave me A-plan for my vert and it was off the lot not my order.
