She goes, oh yea it does that, actually hey now that you have the car you should probably know the trunk leaks too and the car makes a funny sound from the rear when you get going fast.
Is she good looking? Tell her you have her panties and want a ransom.

I might take a scrub brush to it, or I may just go ahead and pay somebody else to do that part.

Meh. She's ok. My coworker hit on her until he saw her car.

As bad as that poor Car was, I would clorox wash those panties, then burn them.

Well, car is gonna be out of commission for a little while. Drove it to Jacksonville Wednesday. I was pretty fortunate that nothing happened on the drive, but about the time I pulled into my parents neighborhood the headgasket blew. So I drove it into their driveway and there it sits. Had to ride back home with my wife. The good news is it's a project car and I still have something else to drive so I can take all the time in the world to fix it.

Well, this morning I reserved a trailer with Uhaul. Tomorrow my step dad will be hooking the stang up behind his Tundra and towing it up to me. I found a shop that said either A) for $10 an hour I can use a bay in their shop and all their tools to fix my car or B) I can pay them $650-$700 and they will replace both head gaskets and check to see if the heads needs resurfaced. That's EXTREMELY good pricing so I'm dropping the car off at their shop Jan 2nd. Option A or B is still to be determined.

I did get a goody or two for the car for christmas. Wife bought me a shorty antenna like hers.

My sister said once I finished getting the interior restored I'll want to protect it from the sun, so she bought me a pretty cool Star Wars sunshade.

And my parents got my wife and I his & hers license plates for the front of the car.

Unfortunately, that's really all the updates for now. I should be able to start making significant progress again in about a week.

When I saw those shots of the interior I said

Austin, as far as I am concerned, no you did not rip that girl off. The first thing that came to my mind was that anyone who has an interior that disgusting in their car is surely not performing any kind of maintenance on the car. Holy carp that was nasty!!! Kudos to you for getting it all cleaned up. I was sitting here looking at those photos with a few buddies of mine and we all agreed that we would have just taken the seats, carpet and center console out of the car and started over with new carpet, a thorough seat cleaning and interior cleaning. Frankly I think she should have paid you to take the car off her hands. Wow that was nasty!!! I feel sorry for whomever calls her "girlfriend". I couldn't imagine riding around in anything that disgusting.

Anyway, sure enough you've blown a head gasket. I have little doubt in my mind that it comes back to that girl ragging the crap out of that car and giving it no maintenance. If I were you I would just go ahead and either drop the V8 in it now or have the 4.0 completely rebuilt and maybe with some performance parts. You just know that the transmission was never serviced and the rear axle grease has never been changed unless you have done that since you bought it. At $1300 it's a good deal but at the same time you knew it was going to have problems given how poorly that girl took care of the car.

If nothing else this may help some guys out there who mistakenly believe that all girls are sugar and spice and everything nice. Some of them are just nasty lol. Good luck with the car Austin and keep us posted on how its going.

PS, whatever you do, do not go in that car with a black light. You may never sit in it again lol. But then again you've done such a thorough job cleaning it that it may not matter. I never would have thought that carpet would turn out that clean. Great job.

Thank you sir! Much appreciated. I am really not sure at this point what I want to do. It's obviously much cheaper to replace the HG than the entire motor. I decided it's def a no go on dropping a 4.6 into this car, only because it's an automatic. I will drive this car for a while, but an automatic isn't what I want the V8 to be. I might look into rebuilding the 4.0 that's currently in it. Also, there is a chance I will be going to work for this shop that is going to do it for so cheap for me. They need someone to do oil changes, tire rotations, smoke tail lights, paint brake calipers, all the things that the real techs waste their time doing. That would give me access to the lifts and tools I'd need to really go to town on this.

Want so bad!

Good luck with it Austin. I was showing this thread to my uncle last night and he feels pretty certain that at some point your Mustang was caught in flood water based on two things.

1. The mud high up on the shock tower in the engine bay.
2. The presence of rust on a bolt head under the center console where moisture should not be able to get at it.

He's had a couple of flood cars so he knows what to look for. This could also explain the "noise" the girl was telling you about in the back end. What we think is that you should get that rear axle serviced as soon as possible. If it was submerged and got water in it you could have a rear axle full of sludge. You don't want that. Along with the axle I would have the transmission given a complete and thorough service. Get it flushed out, have the filters replaced the whole nine.

Personally I think you should just go nuts on the car since its your project car. You've already put in some really good work on that interior. Don't let off the gas now. Just take that rascal to the woodshed. You only paid $1300 for it which is a steal for that car. Put a serious 4.0 motor in it, strut tower brace, lowering it, stiffer shocks, adjustable pan hard bar, dual exhaust, the whole nine. But that's me . You know you don't want to sell it anyway now that you and your woman have matching Mustangs. At any rate, good look with it.

Well car arrived, took it to my buddies shop yesterday and it's well on it's way.

I don't know if you can see the antifreeze in there, but there is a lot.
