Turn it into a drag car. Gut the interior and put a big motor into it. Use it for some awesomeness. The poor car deserves a good life. If its not rusty that is.

My boss makes over $250,000 a year. No amount I could have thrown him would have convinced him to look the other way. But I actually want to keep the car for now.

I've considered this, in the future. For now it'll just be a daily driver as I'm currently driving an ugly Saturn every day.

wow. That is so sad how she treated that beauty.

If you want I do have my old sill plates, gear shifter, hand break and door handles since I replaced them.
LMK if you want to buy them.

Good luck on restoring the car.
Have you tried Goo-Gone or CLR for those stains?

Very interested in those pieces. Will PM you about them. Specifically the gear shifter.

Got a lot more work done on it yesterday. Unfortunately I didn't get that many pictures. Kinda got into working and forgot about snapping pics.

Started by pulling the seats out.

This is where the mold was growing under the passenger seat.

And I don't know wtf this is but it was under the rear seat. It wasn't as liquidy as it looks either. I stuck my gloved finger in it, and it felt like glue.

Then I had to move on to getting the center console out. Thank you savior Brice for having metric tools!

Turns out that cover for the shifter, straight up missing. It wasn't pushed up further in there or anything, it's just gone.

Weird stack of change that was stacked UNDER the center console. Weird.

After getting the center console out I spent a lot more time pulling random plastic covers out, and also was able to get to the shifter and clean it out better. Didn't really take any pictures though.

Got back to pulling the carpet up. Found out neither Brice nor myself had the right size Torix screwdriver to take the seat belts out, so I used a razor blade. Also wasn't about to start pulling the dash to get the carpet that runs behind the dash so I used a razor blade there too.

So I got to pulling it out, and groce!

I had actually already cleaned a bit here, but I just got to town with a scrub brush, tooth brush, and purple power.

It was so groce I literally scrubbed, then took a hose to the inside of the car.

And only AFTER taking the wet vac to get the water out did I find the drain plug.

But it was def looking much better. And the smell was gone. Hopefully when I go back next week it will smell like JDM Squash.

Then I got to the seats!

Hosed them down and took a tooth brush to them a couple times, left them in the sun to dry out.

That's pretty much where I left off. I peeled all the insulation out of the car and off the bottom of the carpet. I may either clean the carpet next week, or take it to get it pressure washed and steamed.

That is so sad ...

I too have parts. I have a climate control module, and I'll check to see what else.

I too worry about the maintenance of the car - if any.

that brown solid liquid looks a lot like dried up coke.
So gross. Keep up the good work.
Looking forward to seeing it all shiny new!

Thanks. Please either post here or send me a PM with what other parts you have.

I think it was some brown dried up coke. Possibly along with other things. I don't know.

Thank you. I'll try not to disappoint. Gonna have to skip working on it this Sunday because I'm going to drive a lambo, but I'll probably get more to work on it Thursday next week and post more on Friday. Sorry it's such a slow process.

Man, there is carpet for less than $250 with the pad available at various sites. I'm not even thinking about it, it's *bought* if I'm dealin' with that. Even if it's not the right shade, or heck, even gettin' a set of black carpet, and then red mats.

The seats, sure, clean those, but that carpet and jute?

Bye. New only plz.

But that's just me, I s'pose.

The jute has been trashed already. It was done for, and I wouldn't want to keep it. So far I haven't found a carpet with the jute for under $200. I found the carpet by itself for $150, but then also you add in the cost of the insulation pad and you're back up to over $200 again. I got a guy who will clean the carpet professionally for about $40. I'll see what kind of work he does, and if it's not to my liking I'll buy new carpet.

I do intend to do black carpet with Red mats. The passenger mat was missing and the driver's was pretty bad so I actually threw it away.

I actually think that she left the passenger side window down in the rain or something. All of the mildew in the rear, was on the passenger side seat. All the mold in the carpet, passenger floor board. And the majority of the nastiness under the carpet and place I found all the water, again passenger side. Car hasn't leaked since I got it, so I can only assume she forgot to roll the window up during a bad rain storm.

Sure, $40 is not a big gamble on it, but still. I think I'd rather have the new black carpet.

Or red. Red would be better anyway.

Yeah, I wouldn't even mess with it. I'd put that $40 toward new carpet.
