For kicks I called Ford Customer Service. I explained that there is some ambiguity about the oil fill capacity between the manual and the manufacturers specification document. She told me that she could not get a technical contact through the call center, and that my only avenue would be to contact my dealer, who then could relay any questions to Ford. So, I took her advice. I called my dealers service department, explained the different documents, and asked what the fill capacity was. He told me that it is 6 qts with filter, and if it was anything different, that Ford would send me a letter ...

Oh ya .. I'm sure they would

I changed mine at 1000 miles, and used 6 qts per the manual (w/filter).

1050 miles for my girl. Question I put in syn. oil and the next change is set for 8000 miles. Will that void the warranty??

You might want to check the level on the dipstick. They may have over-filled it.
Okay here's the deal: I went to my service dept. today and explained that the owners manual says 6 quarts with filter......and asked why they have listed 7 quarts on the work sheet. Service manager told me that 6 quarts is towards the high end of the XXX's on the dipstick, and that they top it off to the full mark after. He said that it is not actually a full 7 quarts, but it is more than 6, and that they just round it off to 7 on the $$$ charge. I measured it on the dipstick myself, and it is right over the 2nd hole on the dipstick. I think 6 quarts would actually be about a 1/2 quart low......if 100% full is the reference point.

It sounds to me like you have 1/2 quart too much. I guess it's one of those "is the glass 1/2 full or 1/2 empty kind of things?". IMO, I rather put in the exact amount the manual says: 6 quarts. No more, no less.
