18 inchers on a 05 GT
18 inchers on a 05 GT
After 5 years with my completely stock 05 GT . . .. . I am thinking about getting a set of 18 inchers . .. . I really like the California Special's look (235/50/18) . . . . . is there any issues with fit (for example will there be any strange rub noises, etc.) how about the speedometer . . . . .will it still read correctly. . . .. . . .also I know the California special is lowered 1.5 inch . . . .. If I don't lower my GT, will the car look OK with 18's . . . .. .
Your car will look fine with 18 inch wheels. If you don't want to go too aggressive get a 18X9 wheel for all four corners with 255/45 tires. You will have alot more meat than you do now and the speedo will be dead on.
I don't know what type of wheel that your looking for but my friend from partscheap.com has a set of American Racing deep dish bullitts like mine or a set of Shelby Redline wheels for sale for $555 shipped. He's in Chico.

IIRC the GT C/S has a different front bumper that is lower to the ground but the car itself is not lowered, it has the same suspension as a GT.
18"s will look great on your GT, I would also recommend going with 255/45 tires all around.

screaming deal for u plus a killer stance. At this price ur only paying for 2 1/2 wheels yet getting all 4 with tires.

I just got a set of stock new 18" silver Bullitt style FRPP wheels from Buyfordracing.com for only $379 shipped. Hard to pass up for the price, unless you really hate those wheels, and I really like them.
Speedometer will be dead on with 235/50-18 or 255/45-18 tires, and there shouldn't be any rubbing with those sizes either.

+1 on what everyone said. My CS had the factory polished bullitts and I had just mounted a set of 255/45 BFG KDW2s before I sold it. I sold the tires to a buddy of mine with a Toyota X-Runner that had the same size tires.
Ofcourse anyone can go buy crappy tires for half but you will never rail and stick to the corners like these.
