Talking to a couple of service guys and knowing from past experience, generally the gas mileage increases a little after the break in period but not a whole lot. If you are getting 14 mpg during the break in period I wouldn't expect more than 16 mpg afterwards.

I can't say if the '05 Stang will be same or not but my Mazda 6 was rated at 21 city and for the first 5K, I was getting 16-18. After 5K, the average started rising and now at 13K, I consistently get 21.

2400 miles and going. My last fill up netted me 19.1 mpg combined. My 03 GT Vert averaged 18.53 mpg before the K&N and 23.66 after.

Cannot wait to get a K&N for the 05.

BTW, I hammer my car. I drive it as fast as I can. The last tank was the 4th tank on my BFG GForce 255/50/R17s. So the wider tire may have cut MPG a tad.

My second tank of gas is getting about 14MPG...city driving. My 99 GT Vert got 18.
You're lucky. I get 0 MPG. Still waiting for my sweet baby to arrive in my arms. But seriously for me, a car that looks this good, I won't sweat the MPG. All the best to you

Hugle

I'm sold on the K&N. My 03 GT Vert made 20 percent better overall combined milage after the swap. I'm happy that my 05 gets 1mpg better than the 03 b4 the swap too. Since the car is less areodynamic and has more hp.

I'll go for the K&N if it makes that much of a difference. Man! 20%

That would be cool......

My tanks have been 17.3, 19.2, 19.6, and 22.2 so far. Last one was mainly open road driving though. First 2 tanks were hammered pretty good.

My very first tank of gas was 24mpg, all highway and I was easy on it, second tank was 20mpg, I was alittle harder on it. Now I am on my third tank. I have about 900 miles on it now.

Which one of the KN Filters to buy? They don't have one for the 4.6 specifically.

Will it be good if I just go to my local oil change place and have them put a generic KN in?

Badandy i drive my Mustang to work and back the distance is about 34 km this is all city driving with a lot of time spent idling at traffic lights. I figure i average around 300 km per tank of gas does your commute have a mix of highway and city and how often are you laying into her?

Just city.

Any info on my question about KN Air Filter.

Can I just use the one where I go to my local oil shop and they install a generic KN Air filter?
