Okay, I have seen new 04 gts in the paper for about $18,500. Since the 05 GT's are going to be around 25-28 grand are the 04s going to get much cheaper? I hope that once people see the 05s they will not want the 04s anymore and I can get my dream V8 for very cheap, less than 05 V6. Anyone else have speculations on 04 price drop in say march?

In march, dealer lots should be cleared of '04 Mustangs, as far as I know. If there are still many '04s at a dealership at the beginning of the year, I imagine their price will be significantly reduced. So, march may be a little late, but maybe january to early february might see a dramatic drop in '04 price. Of course, I could be totally wrong.

I asked a few dealers here about 04 prices and right now they said there standing firm on fords reduced newspaper ads,but you would have to think come feb/mar if there are some 04's still around that dealers will just wanna get em off the lots and might be willing to take off even more. You might also wanna consider buying a 2-4 year old stang. If you could find one with low miles and nice condition you can really save some bucks. As with most cars the first couple two three years of ownership really see's your car depreciate the most.So buying say a 2002 would already have a fair degree of the price depreciation built into it.........just a thought.....

I don't think you'll get it much below that $18.5K. That's a heck of a deal.

Question: "Why will a 2005 Mustang cost $10K more than a leftover '04?"

Answer: "Becasuse it's worth it!"

My dealership is probably getting a bit nervous, they still have 22 2004's sitting on their lot, (some still there from Nov 2003, when I started looking)
and
1 2003 Premium white GT vert still there.....

Hmmm... interesting.

Mike Shad Ford near my house still seems to have several '04's on the lot. I mean, the entire length of their property has a row of Mustangs.

2002 T/As are on the Ford lot on Michigan Ave, and I've seen them going for like 25k  not at that lot, so I don't know.

Anyway my point is dont expect to walk away with a new GT for pennies just beacuse its a year old... In fact lots of people are not crazy about the 05' and may take this oppurtunity to buy 04's so there is really no way of knowing what could happen... See sig.

At my local dealer they have 90 2004 mustangs, 39 of which are in Redfire or Torch Red. The reason so many are in red is because they used the red Stangs combined with the way the Cardinals are playing as advertising. I guess Redbirds=good=Red Stangs. They are taking an extra $1000 off for any red one because of this.

I think you find the prices will drop slightly between now and december. If the 2005 gets rave reviews when c&d andr&t do they're official test drives, the prices may drop even more. Any review of indifferent/poor on the 2005 and the 04's will not go lower. In fact they could hold a "last chance to get an 04" promo in the coming months. At this point everything is speculation.

Mach's would never be that low(your about $10k too low for an invoice with rebate price). Funny enough, the last 3 or so we had went for over sticker when the rebate came out. 20-30 mustangs on a lot are NOTHING for selection. Thats only 4 or 5 of each type (v6/gt/coupe/vert). We usually peak mid-year at about 125ish. Thats a crisis-level stock at 20. A lot of this are 'magic' stories. Last month dealers had $2000 in dealer cash they could choose to give to customers or not in discounts. Its gone now. There really is no reason to sell an 04 under invoice, especially a convertible or manual V6, I've NEVER had to do that on a Mustang sale.

That "18k" price is for a manual base cloth GT, INCLUDING military AND college rebate(you cant use both though, but they advertise them every time), taking out freight, and using the $2000 dealer-cash(which is gone now).

The BIG print giveth and the small print taketh away. Everyone always 'hears' or 'sees' this stuff somewhere. Its misinformation and embellishment.
