1/4 Window Louvers or Scoops
There has been a lot of discussion on the rear quarter window lately. Do you want louvers ala 1965 or scoops ala 1967 Shelby? Perhaps many of the people who want these have never driven a 65 or 66 fastback. It is difficult to change lanes or back up in these cars because you can't see out of them well. I have spent a bit of time in a 65 fastback and have first hand experience.
The rear quarter window in the 2005 Mustang ala 1966 Shelby is a heck of a good move on Ford's part. I wouldn't change it at all. On the 65 fastback, the louvers were openable to vent the car. The modern one doesn't need this as airconditioning is readily available and controlable without stopping the car and opening the louver vents.
While a scoop or louvers might make give the car a certain LOOK, in reality they will either decrease visibility, increase aerodynamic drag, or both. IMHO, the 2005 Mustang is better than all before it. When the high horsepower SE's come out, they will even be faster, handle better, and be easier to find parts for than even the old big block Shelbys. Anybody want to bet me 1:1 on any of my claims?

i like both the windows and the louvers. each gives the car two different shelby style looks. one '65 and one '66. drag on a mustang due to louvers would be hardly nothing really. all it comes down two is really visibility and weither or not u really care about it. if u are going to put louvers on, then u dont care, if ur not then u like how it looks stock and u do like to see out of the rear quarters (although i cant really see this as being a problem because what u cant see out of those windows chances are u will see with those huge hiney mirrors that the new stangs are going to have). i for when i get a new stang again (prob in '06 or for the '06 model year so i can get my grubbly lil hands on a SE) id probably put on the louvers because ive always loved the look of a good mustang with louvers. but like i said its all based on what a person wants.

JMS Products There supposed to be comming out with direct 1/4 window replacements....don't know if its still up on the site....but should be comming out soon.
From their website
JMS Products will be releasing 05 scoop kits, louver kits, delete panel kits, roof scoop kits and grille kits. The scoop kits will be direct replacements to the 1/4 window as the 05 does not have a bolt on c-pillar body panel.
