Does anybody think that in 2 years we will see basic refining of the new 'stang that will make us think "darn, i should have waited". For example, look at the slight improvments made on the 96 over the 94-95, better tailights(IMO). Same thing in 2001, the smoked headlight covers made a big difference to me, I noticed the 99, 00 headlights would get discolored with time. These changes are usually due to customer feedback and though they may be small, it makes a big difference.
Just a thought.
ps. I know i won't be waiting

i'm sure there will be some modifications down the years.... just like you said- all along they've redefined their headlights taillights... etc.... besides... if Ford didn't change their vehicles for the better over a couple of years....there wouldnt be Ford anymore.... cuz people would quit buying vehicles.... thats just what i think

I can understand not buying a 04 and waiting for the 05, but we won't know before hand when this new mustang will be "improved" so you could end up waiting forever, if you like the 05 Mustang and can afford it then go for it but personally I would wait to see all the reviews before.
I think we will have this body style for a looong time, I predict betwen 5 to 7 years before any major styling changes.

It's not about customer feedback. Cars get designed, and then, for the first model year, a lot of stuff gets thrown out again to be put in for later MYs. For example, I bet Ford has painted side mirrors ready. They just won't add it until MY2006 or 2007. Same goes for heated seats, Climate Control, Sunroof. They have to keep the car interesting over the lifetime of the platform. It's always like this.

...and in 2007 we'll hear buzzings about the new 2010 mustang.
I agree with andre here, deciding between 04 and 05 is a jump but waiting for 07 for any major changes....don't bother. Unless you want an SE badly.

Not within 2 years, as a refinement process from Ford usually happens every 4-6 years, with SE models mixed in to keep the interest alive.
I would expect special editions within the next few years.
1994-1995 Mustang = 5.0L V8
1996-1998 Mustang = 4.6L SOHC V8 - 215hp - mostly same as 94-95 but with new motor
1999-2004 Mustang = V6 & V8 got more power - restyled exterior with slight interior improvements.
I think Ford will do the same again for the next 10-15 years, unless support for the car falls off.

yeah man, if the cars didnt get better over time we'd be in sad shape! running on a 25 yr old chassis was bad. imaging 25 yr old everything!

Big difference is that in Mexico, function is a greater need than form.

Price was a bigger consideration and it was changed a lot just the ext. had minor mods.

My impression from when me and Dan met Hau Thai-Tang was that this bodystyle would last 4-5 years before a mid-cycle freshening.
I am sure there will be very minor changes in 2007, perhaps a ducktail spoiler replacing the wing and maybe some other minor things around the car.

Once you've done the classic mustang styling (retro) where do you go from there? , let's start a new forum on the 2010 mustang... nevermind...

If it follows the same pattern as the last 11 model years, The mustang should get new sheetmetal after about 5 model years, and maybe some suspension improvements and tweaking of the chassis.
