I'm in the process of upgrading my interior and I got my leather takeoff today from Newtakeoffs.com and there seems to be something funny;

The passenger backrest does not have the strap to retain the safety belt like the driver side (tou know that little strap at the bottom with the snap ), it does not seem to have been teared off, it's like it had never been installed.

I know that I have both side in my 05 and the are made of leather, in this one they are made of material (like safety belts) so the are probably from an 05 or an 07 as I know they had changed this, but is it possible the newer models don't have this strap on the passenger side ? or is it missing ?

 

about half way through 06 they ditched the passenger seat safety belt strap. none of the 07's have it. Another thing, i believe that the 05 had a magnetic hold down. they changed it to a snap closure. My 07 only has one on the driver side. the strap is made of a nylon material. hope this helps. i am guessing new take-offs pulled them from an 07

 

That's exactly what I was thinking, it was a design change and my takeoffs are probably from a late 06 or 07.

I have an '07 vert and it has the nylon style on the drivers side only. My dad had an early '05 coupe and now an early '06 vert and both have them on the passengers side and drivers side.

 

I really don't get the rationnal for this one, why would they do this ?

Most likely. There have been a few other items that have been deleted, too. For example, '05s used to have a plastic eyelet surrounding the slot where the rear shoulder harness is dispensed in the back, to prevent rubbing from fraying the carpeted area behind and above the rear seats. After a while, Ford just omitted the part.

 

yes def. a cost reduction change. i could almost garuntee it

 

All I know is that my seat in my 07 squeaks like a mother.

 

I never use that little magnetic strap/guide on my 'stang. to guide the belt.

 

There's a little 'pocket' on the side of the passenger seat in my 07 which takes the seat belt buckle. (Entry to pocket from below). It's hard to see, but feel for it and you'll find it.
