05 Mustang: Slower than the 04 GT?
#23
Does anyone REALLY know how much it weighs? So far as I know, the only official specs are on the Ford site, and in the order guide. The order guide lists hp numbers, but not curb weight, or MPG, for that matter.

A rough rule of thumb is for every +/-100# you lose or gain about a 1/10 second in the 1/4 mi. It seems to work on my cars, and most of my buddies also (we spend a lot of time at the track). But I think one thing everyone is overlooking is how much better this cars potential is for hooking up better than an SN95. Also in its favor is better weight distribution. Add in a broader torque curve because of variable cam timing, and quite possibly a seriously underrated power number, we could see some low 13's, and I wouldn't be surprised for a 12.99.
Just don't expect Motor Trend, Road and Track or Car and Driver to do it.
They don't know how to speed shift.

2005 Mustang GT ( So far )
0 - 60 = 5.2 ( Just as fast as the GTO )
Quarter mile = 13.9
I have been told by someone who got to test drive the car, that it felt like a mid-13's car. Ford told him the new 2005 will "Run and Hide, from the 2004 model"
I was hoping it would be a mid-13's car! We will have to wait and see!
That is another reason why I want Ford to produce a Mach1. I want a mid 13's Stang or faster! I do not want to have to go out and spend a bunch of $$$ on performance parts, just to keep up with my friends GTO. Spending 40k on a Cobra is not in my budget either!!
