Im sure it will be safer given its a bigger car...but the car being all new...parts costing more.....is what will make it more expensive to insure. The 04 has the same sheet metal since 99....think a 2005 fender will cost the same as an 04..not happenin. If the insurance company has to pay more for the parts...you are going to pay more to insure it.

Why doesn't everyone just go to the insurance sites and use their online quote pages? Its free... Most of the don't have the 05 Mustang yet, but 04 will give you a good high end estimate for each company.

progressive ins. company
unfortunatly, because i'm already a policy holder, it wouldn't give me an online quote...it said i needed to call. :notnice: i was waiting until i had renewed my policy before i called them, which i've done now, so i guess when i've got some time to sit down and talk about it i'll give give it a shot.
i'm looking forward to finding out what the rates are going to be, but i'm not expecting too much of an increase. well at least not one that is within rason.

Yeah, funny enough that when I tried Geico's online quote, the end result was also "Please call". I wonder if anyone actually gives quotes right away [as claimed] or if you HAVE to talk with a person and hear the sales pitch...

When I got a geico quote for my previous quote, i tried to purchase online cause I thought it was pretty cheap. Only to find out that they were able to see a seat belt ticket on my record and that increased the policy by $300 every six months!!!!!! Whereas state farm initially was a tiny bit more expensive, but they either could not see the seat belt ticket or did not penalize me for it.

I'm with State Farm (and have been for about 3 years) and am 23 with a recently clean record (so my numbers are higher). My insurnace agent quoted me on an 04 Coupe at nearly $200 a month (painful! Also why I'm getting a 6) :bang:
From what my agent told me, initial pricing on the 05 Mustang will be nearly identical to the 04. Data such as theft ratings, cost of repair, accident statistics won't be available so they can't really raise or lower the rate. However, the year following the release of the car insurance rates could jump quite a bit.

Hey guys i was just looking at insurance for me and my dad and mom for my new car, i been considring the svt focus, srt-4, rx8, g35 ( pretty much out of the picture cause if insurance... ) and the 05 stang. I know insurance is goin to kill me on this only because im 17 but i'll b 18 in march dont know if it makes any diffrence. I havent got any tickets since i got my license last year in december.
Just wondering what u guys predict will happen with insurance, think it will be highet then the 04 gt's?
most likely cause of the higher hp huh? But ya just wondering what some of you guys are paying and are expecting to pay with your new 05 stangs. Thanks.

I think theoretically it "should" be lower, but we are talking about insurance companies here......I think the best we can hope for is for rates to stay the same.

I'm guessing those of you getting sub $600 per 6-month numbers have....
A) Over 25
B.) Married
C) Other Insurance/Accounts with insurer
D) Long standing clean record
E) Long standing account with insurer
F) Have states where car insurance is generally lower
My ex is from Montana and car insurance is dirt cheap compared to Washington.
