Hey guys i was just looking at insurance for me and my dad and mom for my new car, i been considring the svt focus, srt-4, rx8, g35 ( pretty much out of the picture cause if insurance... ) and the 05 stang. I know insurance is goin to kill me on this only because im 17 but i'll b 18 in march dont know if it makes any diffrence. I havent got any tickets since i got my license last year in december.

Just wondering what u guys predict will happen with insurance, think it will be highet then the 04 gt's?
most likely cause of the higher hp huh? But ya just wondering what some of you guys are paying and are expecting to pay with your new 05 stangs. Thanks.

as a matter of fact- i called my insurance company last night to find out how much i'd have to pay for insurance. As of right now- i have a bmw 740 i which is close to the mustang in rating as far as speed/wrecks/ etc... I dont have any tickets either and for me- a 20 yr 0ld female- to insure just the new 05 mustang in Germany- i would have to pay 3,068.00 a year... thats almost 2,000.00$ more than i pay a year for TWO vehicles- my bmw and jeep..... i pay 1098.02 a year for both bmw and jeep.... i'm going to have to take out another loan just to pay for insurance!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! good luck with your ins.- at least you don't have any tickets- my husband has 2 and it's whats making our current insurance so high... don't screw up and get any tickets!!!!!!

First post - been trolling for a while... This is really going to be my wife's car but I'm now looking forward to it as much as her!

Well, I got a quote last night from my agent at Alfa Insurance for the GT:

23yr old male, married, no wrecks/tickets etc.
100/300/100 $500 deduct uninsured coverage etc.
6 month premium $1047.76

Alfa is charging a high performance surcharge, however, their quote is significantly less than others (Progressive $2400, Lib. Mutual $1800) so I wouldn't worry about "surcharges" - just the overall price and somewhat surprising this is less than my old 1995 3000GT!

What matters most is your zip code by far - I live inside the perimeter of ATL so I get a nice theft and wreck premium addition :notnice:

Good luck and shop around.

If anything the 05 will be higher than the 04. Even given the exact smae body style on say a 03 and 04 stang gt ...the 04 would be higher because its a newer car. Prices go up slightly for every year of the same vehicle....and the 05 having totally new sheet work and chassis and a slight price increase will most certainly go up in price over the 04's for most if not all buyers. SDame reason it would be more expensive tp insure in another country...all the parts come from over here...tarrifs increase the prices on those parts...insurance company would have to pay more for the parts if damage was done.

Don't want to discourage you Juan, but Probably considering your age, Lets see, 18 or 19, and license for 1 year. No tickets. Insurance companies are going to zonk you. I would say up until about age 25 at least. They consider you a liability. If you can, talk to your parents and see if they will put you down as an occasional driver, and check with your insurance company. That may be the way to go. If you can stay clean [driving record ] until 25, I think you will see a big difference. Right now you have a year under your belt. Keep up the good work. As every year goes by without any infractions, your insurance company will see that your responsible and adjust your insurance accordinally. GOOD LUCK! KEEP THE SUNNYSIDE UP!

I just got a quote for the 05 GT to be about $1034 per 6mo. I'm 22, unmarried, good driving record. I think that's on the 100/300/100 $500 deductible as well. But as I'm living at home and attending school, I was going to stay on my parents and just pay the difference for when I get the new car.

Also have to consider this car is safer than the last one. Plus the added theft options.

Yeah, how can we even know about the rates if the crash test results haven't been released yet?

Im sure it will be safer given its a bigger car...but the car being all new...parts costing more.....is what will make it more expensive to insure. The 04 has the same sheet metal since 99....think a 2005 fender will cost the same as an 04..not happenin. If the insurance company has to pay more for the parts...you are going to pay more to insure it.

Part of the insurance problem is the lack of used parts. since this is a completely new vehicle the only source of parts will be from ford... ouch. thats why the initial quotes will be higher... give it a few months and the parts will become more available and insurance will come down.

Got my insurance quote a week ago...

I'm 25, married, and living in CO (fairly high insturance rates). I also have had no tickets or accidents.

My insurance is going to be around $580 for 6 months for a GT.
The agent told me that the rates they quote you now are going to be fairly accurate, since official testing of the vehicle may take a year or two to complete and therefore figure into the premium.

When I got my auto insurance in the beginning, I shopped around a TON, and ended up with American Express insurance through Costco. They've been really great to me so far too...

I hope something I've said here is useful. If not...just thought I'd throw in my two cents.

Alot of states have laws not allowing used parts on cars only being a couple of years old to protect the consumer, your state may not, but new parts are always better.

You can also demand new parts and refuse used parts, at least here in NC.

I agree. I don't see how it could cost any more at this point in time. The new safety features should help lower the rates a little bit.

Why doesn't everyone just go to the insurance sites and use their online quote pages? Its free... Most of the don't have the 05 Mustang yet, but 04 will give you a good high end estimate for each company.
