05-07 Fuel rail leaks?

http://www.southfloridastangs.net/sf...ad.php?t=21389

I have edited this down a bunch just to get the pertinant bits out there - recently posted on the South Florida Stangs site - has anyone heard of this?

Well last night I went to Moroso with a hole bunch of people. After I made my third pass I started to smell alot of fuel. So i popped the hood to see that the entire driver side valve cover, fuel rail and coil packs were full of fuel........ I had a broken fuel rail. So I tried putting some JB weld on it and it worked. So right before we were ready to leave I was talking to Ftlaudblkgt (Louis) about not having a fire extinguisher he said that he had one and would let me borrow it. I didnt want to see my car go up in flames......

After stopping at the shell gas station to make sure everything was ok. Well turns out it wasnt. The fuel rail was leaking even more.......

Then today I find out from my father-in-law who works at ford. He was talling me that ford is having a problem with 05-07 gt fuel rail leaking......

But I was told that ford might be making this a safety recall on 05-07 gt's. So keep an eye on your car.......

So far the only fuel rail problems I have heard of are with people who are doing major engine mods and changing engine parts - I haven't heard anything regarding any problems with stock fuel rails on the S197s. Maybe some of the Ford people here can comment if they have any info?

Serious enough that if it IS a true problem, people should know.

Well, I have had my 05 since 2/05 with the s/c being added in July 06 without any leaks so far. I drive it hard but my dragging days are over.

Thanks for the info. I don't believe I ahve a problem with the rail, but I have noticed on occasion that my driver's side injector closest to the firewall likes to work it's way loose; it doesn't like to seat properly for some reason. That was with both the stock injector and now the 39lb cobra injector.

Well I had cut off the hose between the rails and replaced it with a steel braided hose. A member of my Mustang club told me that his company engineered the fuel rail design and I had probably scored the fuel rail ends when I cut off the rubber hose and I would probably leak in a few thousand miles or so. Well so far no problems but I did purchase a spare stock fuel rail off ebay for $1.25 for the future.

Good luck

The fuel hose between the rails is made of very hard stuff. It looks like a cheap rubber hose but is in fact high pressure EFI hose with multiple layers inside. Unless they changed the design the fuel actually passes through a clear plastic tube that is wrapped in the rubber. I bought a POWERED BY FORD engine cover to cover that hose up and prevent abrasion from debris on the highway.

This is the only thread I've ran into in multiple forums that has brought up this problem. Thinking if Ford had a big problem with this we'd have heard about it by now.
