Time for gears!!

K next MOD on the list are new gears. I know there are many forums on this, so I am sorry for asking again. Basically I want to know what would help my 97 GT(auto) which is a DD, get that extra push. Mainly street car but once in a while highways too and how it will affect mpg. Thanks.
