Starting problems...?
Hey guys got a question for ya. Just about every other time I start my car it'll die and back fire. I had auto zone put there cheap computer on it and it said it was a cam sensor, I changed it and nothing changed. I wanted to get some suggestions before I went any further. I'm thinking it's my timing chain, any ideas?

I have the same problem. I changed my chains but still every now and then it still happens.
But you should still do you're chains because I did mine at 145,000 and the chain was riding threw the shoe. I had a spot where the chain wore all the way threw on the passenger side.
Good luck

I think autozone can check for codes. As for the chains just take you're time and buy them from Ford. You can check the shoes on how much wear you have by pulling the valve covers and looking down. The only problems I had were my valve cover gaskets were not correct I think it was just mine. Also I was on a stroke on the left side and my cam slipped so I had to be extra careful.

I had the same problem, and as weird as it sounds, replace your alternator. I replaced half the sensors in my engine, and even the car's computer...a 5 minute alternator swap later, I haven't had the problem since. There's been a couple people here with the same problem, and solution.

Yup, it's the damndest thing I've ever seen. I tried it pretty much as a last alternative, what the hell kind of thing. The only thing I can think is that the alternator malfunctioning is sending some odd and messed up electrical signals through the electronics.

Work got rained out today so I bought an alternator and put it on. Car runs and starts much better, still trying to figure out how it fixed it lol. Thanks for the info guys.
